Fifteen students left New England High School on the night of May 20, 1960 after completing their requirements for graduation. They had been led through their senior year at N.E.H.S. by Verne Rafferty, president; Ronald Sorenson, vice-president; Marlene Bock, secretary; and Alice Dill, treasurer. David Dlnlus represented them on the student council. The black orchid was chosen as their class flower, and their motto was: Today we follow, tomorrow we lead. Graduation night honors went to several members of the class. Marlene Bock was valedictor- ian and Lillian Anderson was salutatorian. Scholarships to Jamestown College were awarded to Marlene Bock and Lillian Anderson. Verne Rafferty won the Bausch and Lomb science award and Marlene Bock received the Balfour award. Sandra Hegge received the Betty Crocker Home- makers Award, and Patricia Hanson was the recipient of the D.A.R. citizenship award. Alice Dill received the John Philip Sousa Award and the Crisco award. To a man who lives before us In a silent manner but has set a wonderful example to all who have been under his leadership or In association with him In any way... To one whose qualities of friendliness and sportsmanship have won a place of high respect, deep admiration and warm affect- ion among both the student body and the faculty. With deep appreciation for his service to us as a teacher and a friend we dedicate this, the 1960 Tiger, to Coach Ray Frank. E DICATI 0 V 2
