CUSS HISTORY In the year of 1957, thirty-three satellites were sent to the New England High School Planet to begin their four years of a new living. Also at that time Russia sent her first satellite into orbit. The class consisted of: Linda Austin, Jewell Bakke, Gerald Bartow, Joseph Betchner, Peter Betchner, Burnle Baumann, Willard Dill, Robert Erickson, Donald Farber, Beverly Gatzke, Donna Gussey, Donald Haugen, Rita Hewson, Bernadine Jalbert, Esther Johnson, Gerald Jung, Charles Gell- ett, Marlene Keller, Dianne Kirschmann, Frank Koffler, Wesley Lien, EvaLee Larsen, Galen Rustan, James Nielsen, Roy Pahlmeyer, Jean Rafferty, DIAnne Schemberger, Larry Stang, Lee Tesdahl, Joyce Thompson, Robert Walch, LuElla Zenker, and Donna Henders. Bob Erickson led us as president during our freshman year and Esther Johnson served as the tr- easurer. Mr. Schopp was our class adviser. When we entered our sophmore year we were saddened by the loss of five students: Charles Gell- ett, Jean Rafferty, Roy Pahlmeyer, Joyce Thompson, and Frank Koffler: but we were happy to gain Eileen Hartman and Richard Heick. As we advanced to a higher class we received more work. Again we were sorry to lose one stu- dent, Donna Henders; but happy to gain two more, Darlene Dlnlus and Jerry Walch. On November 20 we gave our Junior class play Inner Willy, directed by Mr. Schopp. Hawaii beckoned us when It became a state during our Junior year and so for our prom we pick- ed the theme, Blue Hawaii. It turned out to be a success with the help of Mr. Gerth and Miss Schmitz. We ended our orbit as seniors with 26 students, having lost three, Peter Betchner; Lee Tes- dahl, who moved to Montana, and Marlene Keller, who married Donald Wilhelm; and we gained one Gen- evieve Urlacher. We completed our last year with a senior class play on April 28. Class night and awards night was held on May 17 at which time we made the traditional presentation of the wooden shoes to the junior class. Early on the morning of May 18 we left for the annual class trip to the Black Hills, returning home on May 21 in time for baccalaureate services that evening. Graduation, the big night, foll- owed on May 28. We took with us part of the football and basketball teams and a part of the cheering squad. We 13 hope the lower class men will miss us a little. Bernadine Jalbert Dianne Kirschmann
