Dedication In Memoriam DALE RAFFERTY July 14, 1940-May 19, 1956 Years, or for that matter any measure of time, are very often deceptive. In our sense of value, we stress the length rather than the depth of a human's earthly life span. This is not correct, for it is not the years accomplished, but what is accomplished in these years that pay tribute to a person's memory. .. Further, we should not judge when our sense of values is tipped by God's wisdom. The students in this school have lost a classmate and a friend. The faculty has lost a scholar. More tragically par- ents have lost a loving son ard to 7 children, big brother nas More tragic indeed, it would be if we did rot nourish the thought that some day we will greet him in a place more splen- did than our small minds can imagine; and see once more the curly hair, the ready grin, the bright eyes, and ready helping hand that have been removed from our presence for but a little Wnilewe are still thinking of our friend who was coming back. Back to school in one week----coming home for a couple of days, then back to school---home for the prom----home for exams. low many times haven't we heard this from loved ones, from school mates, from his friends. Yet while we thought he was soon to be with us, and while we prayed, God led in another direction and called a young servant away. To the students, use the display of integrity and scholar- ship that Dale showed in our school, use his ability to cooper- ate and smile. Those things, not wasted, will be the greatest memorial you can build. To the family, our prayers that God’s strength and love and wisdom will direct their lives in understanding the true importance of their great loss. „ . , To the sacred memory of Dale Rafferty, a true nend, a scholar, a very sincere young man, the students and faculty sincerely dedicate this annual. 2
