Class Poem A small class of just four and eleven. Is the senior class of '57. We have made our way through four long years, Leaving now will bring us new joys and tears. We are a class of variety I’m sure you'll all agree. When these lines revive your memory. And now before we march along with time. We'll leave a remembrance for you in rhyme. John Kunze, our president, is always on the go. Ask anyone in our class if you think it isn't sol Jeanette Klein has that special smile, A boy, just to see it, would walk many a mile. June Larsen, is very studious and bright. You can be sure she'll make out alright. Archie Kirschman always dreams about life on a farm. After a certain girl walks down the aisle on his arm. Willy Detchner must be a mechanic at heart, Every time I see him he's taking his car apart. Betty Jung with her striking dark hair Will no doubt catch a rich handsome heir. Barbara Gatzke's cooking is really tops. We're sure her husband won't eat any flops! Nick Kathrein is sporting an ivy league cap. He'll have to get a new one after the army sets it's trap. A nurse is the career chosen by Lois Joy, But we think there's more interest in a Kunze boy. Here's another Johnson, and his name is Sam, It's amusing how he always seems to be in a jam. John Betchner is a very quiet guy. Of most of the dolls he is quite shy; I wonder why? Herman Myers has a good left and right, That's why no one says let's fight. Richard Hegge likes sports and souped up cars. But most of the time he's satisfied with just candy bars. And now with this verse we're all through. In case you're wondering, the poets are Sherryl and me— that's who I Veronta Clare Sherryl Hewson lfc

Class History In the bright and sunny year of 1953 Princess Elizabeth was crowned Queen of England, but in L'SHS there was some Crowning going on too. Seventeen freshman were crowned by the upper classmen. The class consisted of:John Betchner, William 3etchner, Veronta Clare, 3arbara Gatzke, Richard Hegge, Glen Homelvig, Lois Johnson, Betty Jur.g, Marcia Kamstra, Archie Kirschman, Jeanette Klein, John Kunze, June Larson, Marvin Lutz, Herman Meyer, Gladys Sparland and Robert Streible. After the usual formalities of beginning school, such as being green freshman, finding our way around the building and learning to bring apples to the teachers, we succeded as beginners. As we started our second year in high school we lost Robert Streible, but gained Sherryl Hewson, Samuel Johnson, Rick Katherine, David Kruger, Donald Strang, and Caroline 'iuebner. After school had started we had to say good-by to Caro- line Huebner. We had an exciting year making the freshman bow and smearing them with lipstick. Beginning an interesting Junior year we lost 4 members. They Were: Glen homelvig, David Kruger, Marvin Lutz, and Donald Strang, but we gained Juli Nicklos and Jack Wandler. Our Junior Class Play, Seeing Double, which was given November 10 and 11 under the direction of Mrs. Reinhard was received by a reasonding ovation. Our Junior-Senior Prom was very colorful with a Spring Swing theme. In September 1957 15 proud seniors came back to finish their Senior year. As we went into the final stretch we were sorry to leave four behind. They were: Marcia Kamstra, Juli Nicklos, Gladys Sparland and Jack 'Wandler. The Seniors boasted of making the most money of all pro- ceeding them. We enjoyed a pleasant vaction in the Black Hills for our Senior Class trip. Only one of our seniors have gone to NEHS all twelve years, she is June Larson. 15
