(History continued) After selecting our class officers we went about our humble and mea- ger duties as the poor green freshmen. With the help of our advisor, Mr. Bushey, we sponsored many activi- ties. Many of the members of our class took part in the Dramatic Club production of Marrying Margret. When we entered our sophomore year we lost four members. During this year members of our class took part in the first variety show. This has now become an annual affair. Advancing to the junior row in the study hall of N. E. H. S. we en- tered one of our hardest years. But guided by the capable hands of Mrs. Hazel Madsen as our advisor, we passed through that difficult and event- ful year. The junior play, Never Say Die , was a success as was the Junior- Senior Prom which was dominated by waving palms and scented flowers. In the fall of 51 we entered our senior year — our happiest and most difficult. With Mr. Broton as our advisor we began to go places. School spirit went up. The seniors were outstanding on the football field, the basketball court, and in the cheering section. Our mystery play, The Green Light , was a huge success under the direction of Mrs. Margaret Reinhard. We departed for our trip to the Black Hills on May 22 and arrived back in New England on the 25th. As the end of the year drew near the seniors became conscious of the fact that soon they would be out on their own. Therefore some looked for- ward with anticipation; others with apprehension to baccalaureate on May 25th and graduation exercises on May 2Sth. So come June 1st we will no longer be students but alumni of N. E. H. S. leaving behind happy memories, worn out school books, and strug- gling class mates. 14
