5 R 'ts' W dp Q its ' cc 5 x Y'QfY'g ffiaffi-Qfgx C15 'fir rg, r-style 1- -vfg. r-Q 0-Q If K rf, s. 4 , State nf Nun Eanipshirr Eg Ein Tixrvllvurg Ifilaltvr Zgvtrranu, Enuvrnur A Hrnrlamaiinn NEW HAMPSHIRE COVERED BRIDGE WEEK May 8 - 14, 1972 WHEREAS, during the week of May 8 -114, 1972, an authentic wooden covered bridge will be drawn across and set in place to span the Contoocook River at New England College in the town of Hennikerg and WHEREAS, this represents the first authentic wooden bridge to be constructed in New Hampshire since the turn of the century, and WHEREAS, New England College is the first college to ever construct an authentic covered bridge, and WHEREAS, the town of Henniker produced three prominent Covered Bridge builders in the l800'sg and WHEREAS, the state of New Hampshire has always been recognized for being rich in it's heritage of Covered Bridges, and WHEREAS, the citizens of the town of Henniker and the state of New Hampshire have cause to celebrate this historic occasion with festivities the week of May 8 - 14, 1972, and a dedication ceremony on May 13, at 2 p.m., NOW, THEREFORE, I, WALTER PETERSON, Governor of the State of New Hampshire, do hereby proclaim May 8 - 14, 1972 as COVERED BRIDGE WEEK in the State of New Hampshire with just cause for celebration and rejoicing and urge all citizens of the State of New Hampshire to join with New England College and the town of Henniker in this occasion.
