Princip al : Dear Students and Faculty of New Deal High School: For those of us who are interested in New Deal Public Schools, this has been a banner year. I realize that all of you have contributed to this success and I want to extend my congratulations to you, the students and faculty, for the remarkable leadership you have provided, as well as to give my thanks for the enormous amount of work and interest you have put into your respon- sibilities. I think I speak for all of the constituents of our community when I say we owe you a debt of gratitude for the achievements of this year. As we look ahead, there is no instant of time so favorable to us as is the present one. The past is history. Its final chapter has been written. Fortu- nately or unfortunately, of course, as the individual case may be, the past cannot be obliterated from our present or our future, Its infinite variety of experiences such as its successes and failures, its trials and tribulations, and we have suffered many this year, have been recorded in our personality and character. The person we are now is a composite of these experiences of our past. Students, the future is yours if you will but take it and shape it into the successful and purposive one you want it to be, What you will be, you are now becoming! What you are is God 's gift to yous what you make of your- self will be your gift to God! Again, thanks for the memories and may your future bring you success and happiness, Your friend, fi ? .. c' Lfgghll Aa-x.f'5 I W, T. Garland
