W. T. Garland Principal TO THE STUDENTS AND FACULTY OF NEW DEAL HIGH SCHOOL: f As you are reading this message we are approaching the end of another school year. It has been a very trying year, but we have unified ourselves and have overcome many obstacles together, May I take this opportunity to thank each of you, students and faculty, for your con- tributions toward making this a successful year. As graduation nears we must look ahead. As you look into the future may I ask you a question, What are you here for? Jesus Christ whom most scholars agree had more influence on the history of the world than any other per- son said: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I-le knew for what purpose he came. Do you ever ask yourself, What did I come here for?' Shame on the man who says he has no mission: who says he came here without his consent. That kind of logic makes it justifiable to take him out of the world without his consent, too, There's plenty to do in this world. People are hungry. People are without vision. People are groping in darkness. People need leadership. Perhaps you are not sure what it is you want to do. Many a man has trained for one field and achieved eminence in another. That's all right. A man with his eyes open sees things which a man with his eyes closed does not see. In all the exciting opportunities and in all the great human needs, there is need for dedi- cated men and women. There is a place for you. You camehinto the world for something worth-i while. The surest way for you to find it is to start servingfat every opportunity. You have an ex- ample to follow. Are you willing to pay the price? Always your friend, W. T, Garland Bill, Gloria and the 4T's
