wa sr C aww And Thirty - in the language of journalists means the end of the story. It also means the life span of our own N. C. High, 1929-1959, which now gives way to growth and progress. The original building, oc- cupied in 1929, included only 12 rooms surrounding the combined auditorium-gymnasium. Periodic ad- ditions of the music room in 1936, the northwest three- room wing in 1938, the southeast office-shop section in 1940, the band room in 1946, the northeast wing with eleven classrooms, homemaking suite and cafe- teria have provided facilities as the student popula- tion soared. Through thirty busy years, New Cumber- land High School has compiled a proud record in sports, in music, in scholastic achievement. SHAW- NEE presents this final edition as a lasting memory and farewell to N. C. High.

S' mee f9.5'9 War diafzww 4 Jepwwypazd ' In times past -- Indian mocasins made trails along these waters and named them SHAWNEE. Today Shawnee waters have become the Yellow Breeches Creek where students swim, boat and fish. Shawnee- town, on the site of present-day New Cumberland, was established as a trading post in 1688. Located across the usually placid Susquehanna Lrom Harris Ferry, now Harrisburg, capital of Pennsylvania, the station became a cross-roads for travelers south and west. From this early settlement has grown a pros- perous suburban community of almost 9,000, the third largest town in Cumberland County.
