CLASS HISTORY It was awondex ful feeling to be reporting to high school for the first time. We, along with forty-two other tits began our career at New Castle High School in September 1952 Since there was a large class our home room was d1v1ded 1nto two sectxons, A and B Under the guxdlng hand of Mr Robertson and Mr Comer we elected off1cers Servxng as Presldent was Allen Elmore V1ce Presxdent, Randall Blankenshlp Secretary Treasurer, Phyllis Elmore Reporter, Carolyn Carper The most memorable event of our Freshman year was a pmcmc at Virgmxa Mmeral Spr1ngs whlch proved to be a most enjoyable occaslon w1th everyone havlng a wonderful tune and lendxng a helplng hand We look back on our f1rst year of h1gh school wzth happ1ness and pleasure, as well as d1sapp01ntments It seemed no time until vacatlon was over and we proudly began our Sopho more year Th1s year our class conslsted of forty members under the gu1dmg hand of Mr Showalter and Mr Todd We had the misfortune of losmg Mr Show alter but welcomed Mr Mason Canode as home room teacher for the g1r1s Off1cers elected were Allen Elmore as Pres1dent,J0e Lobney as VICC Pres1dent, Dav1d Tmgler as Secretary, Randall Blankenslnp as Treasurer, and Chester Lyons as Songleader Durxng our Sophomore year we had lots of fun at class part1es and also at school We now began to recognize the sermousuess of class work and could now face the problem of life more bravely The Sophomore year passed so swlftly that we soon found ourselves ready to say goodbye to the sop h.1st1cated l1fe and were qu1te Wlllllg to become the Jolhest of all JUUIOTS Enterxngtki Iun1oryear,th1rty four students were fortunate to have Mrs Harrlson sefgt as advlsor W1th Carolyn Carper as Presldeut, Dlvld Tmgler as V1ce Provident, Phylhs Elmore as Secretary, Allen Elmore as Treasurer, and Betty Cgrper as Reporter, the Junlol' year began under the most favorable cxrcumstamzes This was the year we ordered our class 11.1188 and after much anx1ous waiting they fxnally arrxved Our flashmg hands showed how proud we were Sxnce we hadthehonor of sponsonng the Jun1or Senior Banquet, we gave three one gctplaqfs to ra1se funds Mr S A Huffman, a newcomer to the fac ulty, was most helpful to us at thms t1me The banquet was g1VCn at the Vmton War Mernoanal Hall The theme Flowers was carned out 1n the decoratxons of the hall and each person was named a flower Its memories will never be forgotten In Sep mber 1954 we began the greatest year of all We were Sen1ors at last' e were th1rty exghtmembers wzth Mr Canode as our gu1de Allen Elmore vii! g1ven the honor of being Pres1dent, Davld Tuigler held the offxce of V1ce iyfsadent Befwy Carper occupledthe Secreta1'y'8cha1r whlle Joe Ann Duncan over the finance! is Treasurer and Chapman Huffman served as Rep g?I'hs Biol! exerting expefiewce was gettxng the annual ready for pub 1C Iii!! may hours of dill get labor we hnilhed before the dead lme We? 411259 annual wlll be E tin:-ror of our School days at New Castle Hlgh Sch '95 ae V H' Alma Mater we leiagfi-'fidwhlilegq our egg! and much burdened Wlth sorrow You have meant more to ilflfikll we C18 C5!9j?Lxpress May you con tmue to grow 1n stature and 1mportance duriig the future years Phylhs Elmore Grace Sw1tzer Class Hmstorlans v . . . . . . . . . . . , . . . l . i - , - , . . . . .
