Long hard hours were spent planning and preparing a dance that would long be remembered. Trying to find a band became a chore, es- pecially when the first band decided to cancel. These worries and prob- lems were forgotten, however, as the couples walked in awe of the magical transformation of the halls, cafeteria, and gymnasium. Walking , through the first hall, students had the illusion of being on a beach, walking into the water. Blue shim- mering curtains hanging from the ceiling marked the under-water de- scent. After going through the wa- tery illusion, they saw an under-wa- Queen Jenny Turnbull and her court, Diane Daniels, Deanne Dubinger, Dan- ita Fox, Gerri Jackson, Patty Morera, and Tammy Mason. , Ag gli gg I c 1 i A. .x r'i iiiri I ' A c in x c' as 5'--. 1 The anticipation of the crowning of prom ' queen is obvious as Jenny Turnbull is escort- ed to the stage by her date, Gilbert Webb. s S ter sand castle on the wall which housed a mermaid and gave the feeling of deep, quiet waters. The next hall was entered by crossing a small foot-bridge that was accented by a pool of water containing fish and floating candles. It was a long dock that led to the girl's gym. Green and blue aluminum foil lined the stairs into the girl's gym. The gym itself was a tropical illusion. Ta- bles were set in groups of four with a palm tree in the middle of each group. The ceiling was lowered by dropping green and blue crepe streamers. The stage had been made into a dock by placing piles on the corners of the stage. At 10:00, Jenny Turnbull was crowned 1978 Prom Queen and will reign until May 1979. Student Life! 19
