CHS Maintains Its North Central Rating Miss Evelyn Rentchler Junior, Senior Counselor Mr. Robert Rinehart Sophomore Counselor Mrs. Mary Sinnock Sophomore Counselor The week of Feb. 5 marked the visit of the North Central Association Eval- uating Committee. Preparation for the evaluation covered several months and was extensive. Courses of study were revised for each subject by fac- ulty committees and a self-evaluation was compiled by each teacher. After three days of observation, the 12 rep- resentatives praised the facilities and curriculum and extended the accredi- tation that New Castle High School has proudly enjoyed since 1909. The maintenance of this honor represented a total effort from all staff members and pointed to its high standards. During the year, each of the 1,300 students became familiar with the counseling staff Interviewing and guiding students, conducting college entrance exams, and making curric- ulum improvements were among their important responsibilities. Students and faculty members were assisted time after time by the office and library staffs. Preparing and serving well-balan- ced meals to hungry students was but one job of the cafeteria staff. Special luncheons, chili suppers, and the Sen- ior Breakfast in May added extra work. In addition to maintaining a clean, well-fimctioning building, the custodial staff also has other duties including cleaning the Fieldhouse after basketball games. ,M um Assisting students with their future plans is the counseling staff which includes Miss 22 Evelyn Rentchler, Mrs. Mary Sinnock, and Mr. Robert Rinehart.
