While rushing through the crowds of kids in the main hall as we moved from class to class, we thought of our as- signments, special projects, and big tests. Although classrooms were small and crowded we knew we would find interesting discussions in each of them and that all our teachers were ready to help us with tough assign- ments. ln our library, too, we could study, use reference material or read exciting books and magazines. Our study halls, reading center, and offices were other familiar places where we day, hard year con- found help and advice. Day after we were reminded that it requires work to succeed, and in this last of NHS, we were determined to tinue its high standards of achievement. Happy to discuss problems and activities with stu- dents, Mr. Redman was always ready to offer an idea and a smile to students like David Fleming who sought his advice in his private office. Providing a postal service for teachers, keeping class schedules of every student, mimeographing tests, and transacting the business affairs of clubs and organ- izations were services of the main office. The banging of machinery in the basement, our voices in recita- tion on the main floor, and the blare of our musical instruments on the third floor made the school alive with noises. The routine of classes was broken by field trips and special events for all of us. There's no privacy for this chicken, for he is under the observation of Mr. Furbee and his ag boys, Gerald Winningham, Eldon Crabtree, Steve White, Jim Hollan, and Ronnie Broyles. Movie operators like Paul Hardwick and Fred Over were a welcome sight to students who enioy learning visually. Dramatizations of famous novels, scientific and vocational films, and many strip films were available to classes.
