Senators and representatives practiced actual government procedures at the Purdue Legislative Assembly. Voting machines used in Purdue Assembly and Student Council elections prepare us for the day when we will be ready to cast our votes intelligently in city, ional elections Whether welding a bump- er on a car or operating a voting machine, we learned that experience often was the best teacher. Carrying a project through from begin- ning to end required con- centration and hard work, but it made our preparation for vocations and citizenship more meaningful. Always ready to assist in com- munity programs were Speech X members who spent many extra hours in practice. Made up largely of underclassmen, the speech team won honors at Peru, Ball State, Delphi, Howe Military Academy, and in ln- diana High School Forensic Associa- tion eliminations.
