Zfdf0'l 7 '4 WMM WYSN was one ol' the newest and most interesting additions to our school this year. wvith the ahle supervision ol' Miss llucker and the assistance of Mr. lflrod. programs were hroadcast to all parts of the city. The programs were written and hroadcast hy the students ol' the radio classes. except for some transcrihed programs. at 89.3 megacycles. hlemhers ol' Mr. lNlichael's shop class make many useful articles as they learn the opera- tion of these machines. Some ol' these articles include cedar chests. hook cases. lamps, coffee taliles. and many other useful pieces ol' furniture to he used in the home. Mem- liers ol' the shop classes display their work liehind the large windows in their workshop in tht- lower hall. The art class in New Castle Senior lligh is one ol. the most interesting classes offered in the school. These art students shown here are molding clay to he used as dishes. ash trays. or ornaments. They also keep the liulletin hoard in the hall gaily decorated with signs of the season and news of com- ing dances. Uther projects ol' the art de- partment include linger painting. water color painting. and the making of puppets. Nllreaktiast at schooli' is pictured here in Mrs. Uarissonis cooking class. ln this lie- giuning' cooking class. girls are taught how to prepare simple meals and hake pies. cakes, and muffins. ln various other home eco- nomics classes. the girls are taught talile etiquette. Christmas decorations. grooming. lruying ol' clothes and their color schemes. Classes are also offered in home decorations and home nursing. 23 'S

Four freshtnan students listen intently as their teacher. Mr, liookout. explains the process of osmosis. when the weather pro- vides. this lriology class and others explore the immediate area. Their class also includes in its course field trips to the greenhouse. Coca-Cola plant. and historical lvnilding. Une of the most interesting parts ol' tl1e class is the dissecting of frogs. lllemlmers ol' Miss llupleyis history 21 class look on as George Smith locates a point of interest. The class studies civilization from the cayemanis time until the present. ln the senior classes study such things almout our government as voting and the operation ol' our government in Vlvashington and elsewhere.
