COMMERCIAL SEED Yin ae Mr. Tolmen, a new teacher at NCHS, gets a new shop. He is showing Dean and Quentin where to put the equipment. He also teaches mechanical drawing which includes drawings of machinery and a house. SBY reese... iS Mr. Robinson goes over the steps of planting corn with these vocational agriculture students. Ag andthe Future Farmers work hand in hand in preparing these boys for farming. These third year home economies students study color charts and swatches of fabrics while planning the in- terior decoration of a home. Mrs. Ruby teaches this course while Mrs. Ekstrom teaches sewing. Miss Glon helps three of her eighth grade students with their art- work. Her work with the art classes produces fine works of representational and abstract art. The music formany school assemblies as well as for churches was provided by the Glee Club, which is under the direction of Miss Hunsberger. SCENES Mr. Lynch points out the parts of the skeleton to the boys' health class. The girls' class is taught by Mrs. Schnick. It is a required course lasting one semester. Jim seems interested in this general business film. This sub- ject deals with learning the basic functions of business pro- cedure. It is taught by Mr. Zielinski and Mr. Rush. Mrs. Schnick is the lady responsible for seeing that these young ladies learn to keep their bodies strong and physically fit. These students are practicing bas- ketball shots to improve their accuracy and co- ordination. Typing involves finger dexterity, speed, and accuracy. These boys are taking a timed test to check how many words per minute they can type. The course is taught by Mr. Shaw and Mr. Haag. Much of the time in the boys' gym classes is spent playing football, under the direction of Mr. Rush. Besides playing sports, the classes undergo a rigorous round of calisthenics each day. Carol, as secretary of the week in shorthand class, gives the rest of the girls their assignment. Two years of this course are offered and both are taught by Mr. Haag. 15
