We say they were important because if we have used these years to our advantage, we will be more capable of facing the next step which is making our life a success Our future depends greatly on what we have gained from these years. Our school life was interesting, too. We entered high school, attended ball games, and purchased our class rings. This last year held our most exciting event--being fitted for caps and gowns. All of these activities contributed to our school life. As we leave, we have only one request--that is. that the seniors to come will grow to understand that their senior year is not the end. but only a part of the beginning. 12 RUDY ADAMS Rudy Academic ROSS BRODA Ross Vocational WILLIAM BINGAMAN Bill Academic CAROLYN BRUMMITT Carolyn Academic CAROL BARKER Jo Commercial BENNY BROMLEY Benny Academic CAROLYN BRYANT Sue 13 Vocational MARY CAMPO Marge Commercial JACK DANIELSON Jack Academic MARILYN DEAL Marilyn Commercial JEAN FERRIS Jean Commercial 14 GEORGE FILCHAK George Academic JUDITH FISHER Judy Academic BOB GRIFFITH Bob Academic CAROLYN FITZ Carolyn Commercial JOHN HEMINGER John Academic LARRY FISHER Larry Academic RICHARD HALE Rich Academic THOMAS HOLCOMBE Tom Vocational PATRICIA HOLSTON 15 Pat Vocational 1 LARRY HUGHES Larry Science CAROLINE KAFKA Caroline Commercial il CHRISTINE KLODZINSKI Chris Academic EDWARD JEDRZEJEWSKI „ Ed- Vocational BETTY KINYON Betty Vocational CHARLES JAMES Charles Academic CONDO KESSLER Butch Academic MARLENE KM ITTA Marlene Vocational WALTER KNOBLOCK Frank” Mathematics LAUREA LaFREE Laurea Academic GEORCE KUSPA George Vocational KAREN LEASON Karen Commercial MARY EVELYN KUJAWSKI Evelyn Academic GERARD LAUREYS Gcraid Vocational ALICE LEWIS Alice Commercial 17 ESTHER MACKOWSK1 Esther Commercial TERRILL MacMILLIAN Terry Academic ARNOLD MANN Ace Vocational LILLIAN MALM Lillian Commercial CAROL MENDENHALL Carol Commercial ELEA NO RE MALEC Ellie Commercial JOHN MASON John Academic DONALD MILCOFF Don Vocational 18 DONNA MILLER Donnie Academic MAUDE MILLER Maude Commercial MARIE MORGAN Marie Commercial MARGARET MORCAN Maggie Academic RONALD McCRUM Lee Academic MYRNA MILLER Myma Commercial Academic LINDA McGINLEY Lyn 19 Commercial NANCY McCINLEY Nan Commercial michael McMillan Mickey Vocational ALBERT OSTERTAC Bruce Academic FRANK O'SHEA Butch Academic ANN PETERSON Ann Commercial WARREN OSBORN Doc Academic FRANCES PANOS Cookie Commercial RANDALL POWERS Randy Academic 20 THRESA PREST IN Tessy Commercial DARLENE RADAKOVICH Dec Commercial JOHN ROMANO John Vocational CARL SEBASTY Carl Vocational GLORLA ROLOFF Gloria Commercial JAMES SANDERS Jim Academic CERALD RAJSK1 Gerald Commercial JUDY SAILER Judy Commercial HOWARD SILBERMAN 2i Howard Academic NANCY SIMPSON Nan Commercial JERRY STOCKTON Jerry Academic MARY TOTH Mary Commercial 22 STEVE TOTH Steve Vocational LORETTA WILCOX Loretta Commercial MARY ANN ZELASKO Mary Commercial 23 MOST JUNIOR OFFICERS President--Skip Budny, Vicc-President--George DeMeyer, Secretary--Kay Cooper, Treasurer--Marlene Cooreman I wonder if our class rings will ever get here!! 1 A familiar quote that was heart at the first of this year by many of us expecting our rings. The Thunderbird is the name of the ring and we think they are really sharp. Many things have taken place this year besides purchasing our class rings. Among them was the planning of the Junior-Senior Prom in honor of the seniors which was held at the Knights of Columbus. We also made money by sponsoring a cotton candy machine and a turkey raffle at the Hallo- ween Festival. We are all looking forward to the life of almighty seniors when we will order our caps and gowns, announcements, and all oilier important facsimiles. 26 John Anderson Elsie Bennitt Ann Bates Philip Bowker Edna Brown Skip Budny Lucille Charles Louie Chizar Kathy Chwalek Phil Clendcnen Rich Coddens Kay Cooper Marlene Cooreman Pat Cooreman Carol Corpe Nancy Coughlin Carolyn Cronkhite Tom Crouch Marvin Davis George DcMeyer Judy Dies Darlene Dobrzykowski Mike Eberhart Annalce Elkins Mike Engber Marilyn Enyert Nancy Estep Donna Eveleigh Janice Ewers Leonard Falk Barbara Flory Joe Corny Pat Goverinski Carolyn Crabarek Mike Grange Linda Greeman Gerri Gromski Rich Grzeszcyek Charlotte Gumm Judy Halassy Pat Hartman Mary Hayter Larry Heckman Laurel Hcminger Frank Hopkins 27 Margurcttc Imel Roy Imel George Jackson Bruce Jarvic Rita Jeffries Rich Kaplon Mildred Keller Carole King Sandy Kizcr Ron Koach Susie Kovach Judy Kraus Jo Ann Krishack Joan Laskowski John Laureys Barbara Lee Gene Lewis Mary Lowe Linda Lung Carol Lutes Diana MacMillan Max Manges Doug Massey Linda Masters Dennis Milliken Walter Mise Nancy Moffitt Bill McCarty Bert McDonnough Barb McAfee Sandy Nelson Bob Nusbaum David Peterson Kay Peterson Buddy Plech Judy Pierce Don Ray Janice Ray Linda Reece Franklin Retter John Rodgers Joe Romano Gene Rose Virginia Rusjkowski Danny Sauer 28 Jean Sexton Bill Shankland Jerry Short Roy Showalter Paul Sidosowicz Arlovva Singleton Harold Sisco Donna Smith Mary Sowers Andy Spitz Sam Stevens Mary Stubbs Dan Swartz Tom Szmanda Janice Solloway Judy Solloway Nancy Thompson Rosemary Todd Bob Traxler Cynthia Tuholski Eugene VanWanzeele June Vida Norma West Chuck Whitten Sharon Wigent Judy Wilborn Maureen Wilde Betty Wiltfong Albert Wozniak Sandy Wykoff Sharon Yohouse Tom Zakrowski Ed Zelasko 29 SOPHOMORE OFFICERS President--John Ekstrom, Vice-President—Ted Wrobleski, Secretary--Connic Malec, Treasurer--Susie Halassy The sophomore year was a very rare one. At least that was what we thought. We were still considered junior leaguers but felt that we've risen enough from the fresh- man year to enjoy the privileges of being older and wiser. Our class was a good- sized one with one hundred and forty eight strong. Our class made a slew of that crisp green stuff this year with a very successful money-making magazine sales. We also sported our class Jackets which were black with orange letter outlined in white. As juniors next year we are looking forward to purchasing our class rings and also adding another rung in our four year high school ladder. 30 Sandy Baginski Sandy Baich Bob Baird Sharon Barnes Bonnie Bartmess Bill Bates Beth Billey David Bingaman Jane Bingaman Richard Blair P. Where is the English room? Which stairs is it up? These are a sample of the often-heard questions that have been asked by some of our 150 bewildered class members. Our life as freshmen in high school began with our electing officers to help us through this first hectic year. We've done our utmost to keep in line with our upper- classmen and to show that we held our own, we sponsored the cake raffle at the Halloween Festival. We were very fortu- nate in the fact that it was a great success. We are glad to say that we will be great sophomores next year and will be able to give the low freshman the same hard -time we endured! 34 Wayne Arnold Joyce Baginski Bob Bardusk Mary Bartels Mary Bartoszewioz Linda Bates Terry Bilski Mary Bodemuller Mary Bontrager Orville Brown Robert Brown Frank Burnett Charles Burrow Daniel Bryant Lorraine Carbiener Mike Carrol Lois Charles Mary Chavez Mouse Coddens Charles Colpitts Diana Coleman Betty Cooper Loraine Cooper Carol Cooreman Fred Cooreman Judy Cooreman Ron Comelis Carol Dabros Pat Danielson Connie Dankert Mildred Davis Jack DcCroote Gloria Dobrzykowski Terry Dodd Robert DuBois Sharon DuBois John Eckert Ned Ellis Dan Engber Ginger Fann Pat Farias Sharon Felty Darrell Flemming Ronald Flory Linda Fritsch Rose Gamble Gerald Geppert Dan Glassburn Art Grange Larry Grove Alice Hale Pat Hanson Marcia Hauser Freda Hayter Carolyn Hickman Allen Higginbotham Nancy Hildebrand John Holston Arnold Hooton Judy Hoover Nancy Horvath Richard Horvath Tom Horvath Tom Hostetler Fred Hubncr Joyce Hughes Richard Hunn James Jackson Joan Jackson Robert James Charlene Jozwiak Kathryn Kazmierzak Virginia Kmitta Karen Kom Ralph Kuespert Dorothy Kujawski Casimcr Kush Irene Kuspa Barbara Langley Cail Langsdorf Janice Lant Nancy Leonard Barbara Lewis Mary Ellen Light Harry McClaren Hazel McClaren Cecelia Macicjewski Betty Manning Dennis Mark with Mickey Masters James Maysc Jane Meyers Victor Milcoff Bill Millar Roland Myers Irene Neely Charles Odle Verna Odle William Palm Glcna Phillips George Pietrrak Judy Rajski Kathy Rajski Nancy Ray Barbara Reece Martha Robb Pat Rose Dennis Runkel Ronald Runkel Paul Runnels Mike Sebinas Paul Scbasty Phyllis Shaum Susan Shepherd Susan Shippy Judy Singleton Pat Slott Frances Smith Mary Ellen Smith Margaret Spitz Luann Stanton Ray Stanton Larry Starkweather Mary Jo Stockton Becky Stroup Diane Tarwacki Allen Taylor David Thompson Evelyn Toth Harold Traxler Cline Tucker Larry Tuttle Ronald VanGoeyc Bob Wegnerowski Charles White Dan Whitten Orville Wilcox Bob Wilson Charles Wiltfong Arlene Wrobleski Carol Wyant Richard Wykoff Randy Vanslangcr EIGHTH GRADE Bill Ankin Russell Barnes Barbara Benjamin Kathy Blake Jim Bodcmullcr Sandy Bowker Raymond Browne Johnny Brugh Lucien Campo George Casaday Russell Cauffman Reva Clark Carolyn Coddens Michael Cooper Leonard Crawford James Danielson Charles DcMeycr Grctchcn Downey Wally Driscoll Sandra Dmck Melvin Dzialak Donald Estep Ronald Estep Garry Fisher William Flinchum Frances Folk Gary Fosnight James Cion Robert Gouker De loris Goverinski Victoria Grabarck Carold Greathouse Nancy Gubics David Hancz Cornelius Hannewyk Charles Heinek Marilyn Heminger Maxwell Hcndcrshot Sharon Higgins Carol Hoover Janet Hope Ted Hope Nancy Isenberg Eugene Janski Gordon Johanson Robert Johnson Richard Jones Joseph Kazmierzak Anna Keller Harry Kolacz Marie Kopkowski John Keonard Barbara Mack Patricia Mann Carl Meyers Roger Milcoff Martha Miller Frank Modjcska Richard Murray Carolyn Nicodemus Ted Neispodzeany Elizabeth O'Laughlin Lynda Overmyer John Panos Mildred Proud Quentin Rainey Victor Ramirez Dan Riffcl David Riffel Sandra Rogers Richard Rubeck Susann Sanders Richard Schaub Thomas Schimmel Kathryn Schuler Carolyn Shaum Marolyn Shaum Edna Singleton Robert Smith Claudia Stoncbumer Larry Suit Robert Taylor Robert J. Here we found our first friends and made our first enemies. Don’t we wish it was all that easy again. Our hats are off to these, our first teachers. What would we have done without them. They taught us rcadin , writin', 'n Arithmetic. They also punished us when we were bad and rewarded us when we were good. We wish to thank them whole-heartedly for their fine co-operation and guidance in our first steps through school. May they continue to do as a rewarding and wonderful a job in the future as they have done in the past. We bid a special thank you to the office staff for the work they so ably have carried on. They have had to handle the inside problems of running the school. Their duties arc innumerable and sometimes difficult to carry. A big thank you again for your help in keeping the place going. May you always carry on this work for us. 44 SIXTH GRADE Mr. Crane Mrs. Gamble Donna Austin Veronica Bartaszcwicz Elizabeth Bates Jim Bates Nancy Bautcrs Tommy Beall Darlene Bilinski Gary Bingaman LIFE IN This year the Tiger Team was one of the mem- bers who formed the new Northern Indiana State Conference. It was made up of the following six schools: Bremen. Knox. Jimtown. North Judson, Washington-Clay, and our own New Carlisle. Our team's record, however, did not meet ex- pectations due to the fact that we were hampered by the loss of three of our regular players only two games after the opening of the season. Midway through the season, having our regulars back in action, we began to show the true Tiger form and spirit. Our team came through at the end of the season with some spectacular team play. On hand to back the Tiger Football Team at all the games was an energetic group of fans led by our cheerleaders. Next year we are looking forward to a better year. 64 Allah, Allah, Mighty Master, give us VICTORY!! Here our cheerleaders, Janice, Diana, Charlotte, and Nancy lead the crowd of fans. LIFE IN The opening days of the season looked very promising with five lcttermcn, three of them last year's regulars back. We played a very good game for the first seasonal contest, drop- ping a 66-53 decision to Concord, one of the top rated teams in the state. As the season progressed our Tigers panned out into a very fine ball club with a great potential. In tiic seventh game of the season it was our good fortune to beat Nadison Township 76-67 and win the roving trophy. This is a very coveted award which is held by a county team school until beaten by another county team outside of tournament competition. This year we are priviliged to have one of the better teams that New Carlisle has produced and we should be very proud of our Tigers. Looks like we're going to get another two points, from this shot. ul The Traveling Trophy was won by the team at the Madison game. BASKETBALL Larry Fisher, the County's leading scorer, eagerly raises New Carl- isle's score. The whistle blows and the Tigers are in action. B” TEAM FIRST ROW: R. Wykoff, O. Brown, R. Wilson, D. THE OLIVE BRANCH The members of The Olive Branch were kept busy or- ganizing the school yearbook. Colors of the cover were chosen, stories were written, and most important of all was the taking of pictures, a task in itself. This year's staff undertook many projects—Tiger pins were sold for both football and basketball activities. Valentine's night brought another project in the form of the Sweetheart Record Hop, with Jim Lounsbury in person. Many nights after school were spent in preparing ma- terial for the yearbook. Subscriptions were sold at the beginning of the school year, at the high school and elementary school. Yes, it's been an exciting year and we on the staff wish to thank Mr. Haag for his guidance and help in making this a yearbook designed for you. This book took a lot of planning by these people. 82 The staff sold booster bottons to raise money. FIRST ROW: R. Thrope, A. Horvath, A. Wozniak, G. DcMeycr, S. Toth, A. Mann, R. Kaplon, M. They were aided by the older members and the club's sponsor, Mr. Stutsman. After the new boys had proven they could run a projector they were allowed to show films to various classes. There were fifteen to twenty members in A.V.A. last year. The club sponsored a dance after one of the basketball games to raise money for new projectors and to repair the old ones. The club owned a lot of equipment and it took a lot of money and work to keep it all in good condition. Members could receive letters for outstanding work and most of the older members have letters. The members also received small gold bars repre- senting the number of years they had been a mem- ber of the club. The officers arc demonstrating to Ricky Budny the complications of running a projector. FIRST ROW: K. Coddens, J. DcCroote, S. Budny, T. Piech, S. Stevens, D. Massey. So the Tattler staff scans the first and then a current edi- tion of the paper, in order to measure its progress. Obviously die picture of die school improves die masthead of die front page and is a pleasant change from the more usual balanced front page of the other editions. It will take several highly dis- cerning glances to gain ideas for a better and varied style of article composition. Such a measuring time creates a desire for further improvements of the paper, but at die same time leaves one with a feeling that the Tattler has lived up to its motto by helping to lift many stu- dents out of various servitudes of wrong or incom- plete thoughts into the freedom of clearer thinking. Here some members of the staff compare two different copies. FIRST ROW: Sponsor, Mr. Isaacs, D. More, S. Rife, R. Hale, M. F.ngber, E. Malee, S. Bryant. SECOND ROW: C. Crabarek, E. Kujawski, P. All the clubs had booths and each class had a King and Queen representing them in the court. We sponsored programs throughout the year which, included a wrestling demon- strator on April 6th, and a man that played various types of musical instruments on March 3rd. As a fund raising project we sold beanies in the school colors and sponsored a dance after a football game. As projects we made score sheets for the basketball games, and sponsored dances at noon, which the students highly appre- ciated. We made comical posters showing different code of ethics the students should follow and inspected students lockers at different times of the year. FIRST ROW: R. Budny, A. Peterson, B. Ostertag, S. Yet there was an answer. Here's where Bob Du- deck came in. He went to the elementary school and for three weeks toiled over names and faces, trying to connect a name with the corresponding face. Who could say what we would have done without him. Thanks, Bob, for the information. Quickly the days passed by. Dead lines arrived in a whirlwind of rushing. The yearbook staff faced the problem of pictures. What should they do? However, there was an answer to that problem. Mr. Tony Waruszrwski came in the form of a photographer—and mighty good one he was. In him the staff found their task a lot easier and even fun. We would like to express our thanks to Mr. Waruszrwski. The staff would have had a very difficult time making a Yearbook, had not it been for Louie, you see every day without a doubt, room 152, the headquarters of the year- book staff, had to be unlocked, for typing of stories and the general work involved in yearbook making. We wish to say Thank's a million, Louie, for your help! 93 CLASS Which one of you will be the new Grandma Moses? All of you, of course! Hartman You can't express in words of man Why death will steal away, The ones we like and love so much And leave us here to stay. Mr. Hartman was one of those Whose soul was snatched away. Yet we will always remember him Forever and a day. He was a man of integrity And was liked by everyone. And no one could ever say His job was not well done. And though our life must linger on Our thoughts on him dwell. And the greatest compliment from a teen Is this, He sure was swell! You have just seen school life in action. There were'times trial and pain, but the reward at the end justified them. Now we , suddenly realize we have heard the last sound of laughter echoing - ’ s? from the gym. Classes for us are no more: yet, somehow instead of making us happy, the thought saddens us.
