It will make us sad in a way but we have had our many wonderful times together to remember. In September, 19 6, we entered high school, a3 the old saying goes, as green as grass. It was time we started to learn to take a little responsibility upon our shoulders. To start the year v e elected Eileen Snodgrass, President; Charles Zopf, Vico President; Ruth Ann Smith, Secretary; and Harold Swartz, Treasurer. Ralph Wiggins and Joanne McPherson were elected Student Council members. A fc.« weeks later v e were given a rough and tough initiation by the senior class. To cause us to feel more friendly toward them the seniors honored us by giving us a party in the Hudson Lake Casino. As we said before, we were a little green so we accomplished little more than this in our freshman year. The next year we seemed to come to school with more ambition than usual. We elected Bill McPherson, President; Bob Garoutte, Vice President; Joanne McPherson, Secretary; and Ruth Ann Smith, Treasurer. Mary Millikon and John Zdan-kus were our Student Council members. We started the busy year right off with a skating party. Following this was a St. Patrick's Day Dance and a magazine sale. By the end of this year our treasury v as fairly bulging in our opinion. By the time our Junior year came we considered ourselves much more sophisticated and we even resented the authority of the seniors a little. V e elected Bill McPherson, President; Joanne McPherson, Vice President; Ruth Ann Smith, Secretary; and Joan Dudeck, Treasurer. John Zdankus and Janiece Street wore our Student Council members. This was the year of the play 1 The play we selected was Professor, How Could Youl The annual magazine sale took place and then we were thinking of the Junior-Senior Prom. V e honored the Seniors with our prom on May 7, 19 9 In the Whitcomb Hotel in St. Joseph, Michigan. V e had grown to like the seniors very much and presented to the senior girls white roses as a way of trying to tell them so. In September, 19 9 we entered the front door of the school for our last year, at least v e all hoped we would make the grade. We elected Eill McPherson, President; Dick McCay, Vice President; Ruth Ann Smith, Secretary, and Charlotte Aim, Treasurer. Janiece Street and Ralph Wiggins were elected Student Council members. To show our senior authority we gave the freshmen their initiation in the high school gym. Because we were so greatly outnumbered we didn't show much authority. After things had settled down a little, we presented our senior play, Almost Eighteen. To make a Class History Con't little money Tor this yearbook we also sponsored a Sadie Hawkin's Day Dance and a movie. We were very proud of Janiece Street and Dick McCay because they were elected queen and king of the hirh school Halloween Festival. As our sift to the school we left a typewriter to the seniors in the futui'e to use on their yearbooks. And nov; as we say goodbye, llev; Carlisle High School will long be remembered by us because of the good times we had at our many parties, school organizations, and other activities. MOTTO Hitch your wagon to a star; hold your seat, and there you are 1 COLORS Maroon and White FLOWER Pink Carnation rTASS WILL LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Senior Class of '50 being of sound mind and body wish to will our abilities and disabilities to the more unfortunate underclassmen and faculty members. ARTICLE VI: We, the departing Seniors, leave to the eager up and coming freshmen, more home work and less fun. To the Sophomores, v e leave all the work it takes to earn money for their future prom. Sebasty, MacMillan, ::iss ebo dkur The height or ambition v;a3 shown in the Junior Clas3 this year as they went into the years activities with all the power they could display under the leadership of their capable officers--Deane McMillan, President, Joyce Anderson, Vice President, Mary Wilson, Secretary, Jim Anderson, Treasurer, and Marlyn Waite and Stuart Clark as Student Council members. We also owe much of the success of this year’s activities to our sponsors, Miss Broad-hurst and Mr. Pfieffor. Since the Junior Class needed money for expenses that are met during the year they sponsored several money making projects. First of all was a magazine sale which netted a grand total of .1003.10—a big success, hater they nave a gala skating party at the Pallidum. A very exciting event that happened to our class was the arrival of the class rings. The members of the Junior Class, who participated in basketball this year were Leslie Seeasty, Deane McMillan, Trank Zielinski, Stuart Clark, and Jin Anderson. We, the Junior Class, assume that much of tho success of this year’s basketball soa-son was due to these capable players. Good Work, boys! ’. I Also, another Junior helped in the success of the year's sports, was Rose Marie Talcrico, who load the fan3 in cheering. This was Rose's second year as cheer-leader; and she did a very outstanding job. The most important affair of the year it seems was the annual Junior-Senior Prom. The Prom honored this years graduating seniors and was held on the 9th floor of the Elkhart Hotel, May 6, 1950. Everyone enjoyed dancing to the music of Herb Ger-nann and the Aristocrats which ended a wonderful evening. To end the busy year the Junior Class presented a play. May the 11th and 12th. We would like to offer the best wishes we can to tho graduating Seniors of 1950---we will miss you. Good Luck1iIi1 LQ7VE IS T ?C? MUCH TROUBLE The Junior Class decided on Love Is Too Much Trouble as their class play which they presented May 11 and 12. everybody enjoyed this humorous comedy which was directed by Margaret Broadhurst. Many bought, blue and gray jackets with an insignia of the club across the back. To increase our treasury a skating party was held at the Palladium Skating Rink at Michigan City. Our sponsors are Mrs. Carl Ekstrom and Mr. Leon Greenwalt. We started the year off by having a class party which was a hayride and picnic at Bickle’s woods. On December 22, we sponsored a Mistletoe Dance. Everyone had a swell time dancing to music by Paul Futa's Orchestra. We were proud to have three Freshmen boys make the basketball team. They are as follows: Dick Jones, Harvey Brown, and Richard Goraczewski. The girls have a homeroom club called the F.G.C. Speakers we enjoyed for our meetings were Mr. Stoneburner, Mr. Grimes, Norma Ray, and Chuck Zopf. The F.G.C. had a theatre party in April to which everyone brought a favorite friend. The class is unusually music-minded, and talent is evident since several of them have won high honors in contests. Expecially noteworthy are: Jack Shaw, Peggy Roush, Carole Sue Gyorgyi, Nancy Kelley, Dorothy Barker, Rae Ellen Bickel, Bob Clapp, Mary Haag, and Paul Spriggs. J T? SOFTBALL Under the direction of our coach, Mr. Stone-burner, our tean had a fairly successful season. They finished the year with two win3 and four losses. The tean will lose some seniors, but car look forward to a good season next fall, becaus of the excellent caliber of the junior players, Much of the team’s success was due to t ie pitching of Dick Jones and the running of Civ sic Zopf, Dave Stickler, and Ted Taelnan; and to F ?-vey Brown1s heavy batting. BASKETBALL The Tiger team coached by Harry Stoneburner displayed much power and improvement this year by finishing the season with a $0% average giving them a final record of nine wins and nine losses. There were three Senior regulars on the Varsity squad: Dick McCay, Charles Zopf, Ben Stopczynski. These boys share the honors of being the three top scorers of the season. Other members of the squad were F. Zielinski, S. Clark, L. Sobasty of the Junior class, T. Taelnan, D. Stickler of the Sophomore class, and D. Jones of the Freshman class. TRACK New Carlisle High School is proud of its very good track team the past years. During the last five years the teams coached by O.A. Shaw have won five County Championships consecutively and have won the Lakeville Relays four times. Coach Shaw’s team is expected to win the County Track meet again this year. We were fortunate in losing only three major letter winners by graduation; they were Jim Agness, Russ Flatt, and Mark Hooton. Returning lettermen are Bill McPherson, Chuck Zopf, Stanley Retter, Ralph Wiggins, Ben Stopczynski, Bill Flatt, Stuart Clark, and Ted Taelnan. Manager; H. Charles, T. ' D. Stickler, D. Niedbalski, C. La3t year'3 dance and feed 'turned out to be the birgest over to be held. The members and their guests danced to the music of Bobbie Lewis and his orchestra. The music was moody; the ballroom was dark; and everybody enj -ed the big affair. The game was one of the most highly contested games of the year, but the Alumni won thirty-four to thirty-two in a real thriller.
