Bie BPS Ors Bie Sea rer t Once green recruits, we have developed into a class that has ; furnished more than its share of leaders in athletics, dramatics, 3 scholarship, and literary work. We are more than proud of the i harmonious co-operation among class memvers. And as we look back r on tlre years, we discover friendships trat we will cherish all E E i } VIB PRV IRN BVI DS BVE : our lives. N.C.H.S. has given them to us. As freshmen we became acquainted with the routine by re- ceiving a rough initiation from the seniors. We did not enter into activities until our sophomore vear. We as our president. In the fall we had a hayrid a lad of magnetic personality, was chosen to 1 elected Gene Levan Bi @. vJack Palmer, ES ead us through the Et junior year where there were so many definite goals to be ob= tained. The magazine sales were successfully sponsored as our F | first real money raising activity, along with pop and ice cream that we sold at the basketball games. It's all In Your Head , a three act comedy, starring Bruce Sharp and Gladys Veyers and coached by Mr. Manes, revealed the drdmatic ability possessed by the class. Sadie Hawkins was a clever dance sponsored by the class. we wound up with the Junior-Senior Prom, an occasion not soon to be forgotten, for it was held in the Spaulding Hotel in Mich- fgan City. TULADUA DENA UREREROUET When senior officers were chosen, Gene Levan was again el- ected president. ‘Ihe three act comedy, Miss Jimmy was probably one of the most successful in the history of class plays. Wrs. Troeger coached the production. 1 | Tye i Doctor Preston Bradley was selected as the Commencement speaker. All these various intimate contacts and association will serve az inspirations in the days to come. Gratitude may well be expressed to the sponsors: Wr. He was assisted by Mickey Hooton, Vice President; Julianne Young, secretary; Jimmy Agness, treasurer; Arlene Cronkhite and Ralph Taelman, student council members. With this fine group to head them, the class started a paces that would put any human out of breath. With vim and vigor they began to cure their main ail- ment--finances. ‘lhe first step was an immense one which cov- ered their first attempt at dramatics, FOOT LOOSE was a suc- cess both dramatically and financially. Mr. Manes coached the production. This was followed by a magazine drive and by selling pop and ice cream at the basketball games and taking care of the parking. Among these juniors who displayed hardwood strength are Agness, Flatt, Taelman, Hooton, Cowham, Sarber, Barnhart, ob- bins, and Thompson. One of the cheerleaders was Donnie Haag, a member of this class. Many of the juniors were on the honor and merit roll. The Annual Junior-Senior Promenade was a gala affair, the most expensive dance of the school year, the success of which was due the Junior class, for the Seniors were guests of hon- Ore The success of the class was largely in the hands of such capable sponsors as Miss Broadhurst and Mr. Manes. en ga hn TATEHRERAURGSUREHRORUCEUESR CORSDSECORGUAOUORORUSUOUU TUN RORORNUEDSGESSRGeSBESSSERE 1 : itiil i, HTT HHI HL ; HAY | ; 1 I] oe P ¥ mt 4 Att - : rs +. The class elected Bill KcPherson, president; Bob Garoutte, vice president; Joanne NcPherson, sécretary; Huth Anne Smith, treasure; Mary Williken and John Zdankus, Student Council mem- bers. The sophomores have many financial worries before them such as their plays, a Junior Prom, and leter the Senior activities. With the strong executive board, looking far into the future, their first money making device was a public roller skating par- ty at the Playland Rink. Later the class entertained themselves with a Treasure Hunt. Scholarship is always looked upon as one of the outstanding principles of class character. The Sophomores have held schol- arship to the high levels of their other accomplishments, as is proved by Charlotte:Alm, Ruth Anne Smith, Naurice Tuttle, and Jean Narie DuBois. A brilliant outlook for the future of varisitr Squads can be predicted with such materials as Don Niedbalski, Butch Ga- routte, Benny Stopezynski, Mickey Wiggens, Charles Zoph, Richard McKay, John Zdankus, and Ray Jasinski. One of the Yell leaders, Mary Milliken is a member of this class. The class activity among the girls was the new club, Gla- mour Manner. The class operates under the watchful eyes of Mrs. Crouch and Mr. Greenwalt, its sponsors. er pep ath A het Gen hte a abiads aha Bain ina ahaa ane nena an eeetneeaeeeemeneel 3 yee — nin etree mt hm peak taemlaorpind on eigcoseepeeaee jeahncl Parra ET ROSES ETERS SEO stenting te ran SMe MTT: tine na ee ears man Popa mrerscaie: at : 7, Sak ERENT 0 e206 IS EN pa ee enebatit hecho cook ae at aoe hacemitakee tec’ ens LEME SENS DPT LR ie 2 tt Hi AWE Oe aN CAE Aah oldig Taian PcMpe el ep ong igs aa RET dae se caer : ce nny ain a aoa ran GakeAdietbeyesvisacen aed ey e Noa eee Hes el bcmre AT ar SECU FE Sei atm inne a 1-cgpicenpe ve eerie nee eae Oe eeepc capes oa oe ellie een ee ae - E a of | taps - - x tegen oe, eery bp nol lst Row, J. Qe The Freshmen The freshmen class. under the sponsorship of Mrs. Ekstrom and Mr. Varker began their school year with its total enrollment of 79. This is the largest freshmen class ever enrolled in New Carlisle. Donald Wiggins was chosen president. Other offi- eers were Charles Carbiener, vice-president; Junior Stopezynski, secretary; Stuart Clark, treasurer; Lee Gregory, and Adeline: Kzepka, student council members. A hayride party given by the seniors in honor of the Freshies after the initiation tnaugurated the activities of the.year. During the year, to make money for the treasury, the Fresries sponsored a Sadie Hawkin's” dance. For enjoyment the class had a skating party at Playland Park. veryone had a hilarious tire except Boo Barker who had the misfortune to dDreak his arm. TS TIE 23. TIKES TES. They finished the year with three winnings and three losses, but were picked as the most improved team in the county. The team will lose many Seniors but can look forward to a good season next year, because of the excellent caliber of the Junior players, More of the team's-success was due to the fine playing of Palmer, our regular first sacker, and to Stayback, our shortstop, Other members who deserve credit are Levan, Gad- acz, Agness, Flatt, Sharp, Hooten, and Zoph, Looking at the team a little early in the season and reviewing last year's results this writer predicts that our team, always a threat to any track crown and under the cap- able direction of Coach 0. A. Shaw, will be outstanding in most of the field and track events, We have a top notch man in the hurdles, Chuck Zoph, a sophomore. Levan and Gadacz look good in the dasnes,. For distance runners there are Mark Hooten and George Degler,. The field events will be strong too. Jimmy Agness is doing the high and broad jumps. The Quarter mile will be run by Russell Flatt. All in all, it looks like New Carlisle is on her way UD. Front row: ©, Zopf, Re Flatt. Back row: Hooten, J. Agne '. Stayback, G, Levan, F, Gadacz, 3. Sharp, G,. Degler, J, Palmer, M, SS, R. The cautldren plan a vacation cruise for their parents and persuade them to go. The difficulties these children encounter while their parents are away are many, such as, Bob and his best pal smash into a car, the maid gets pneumonia, and to top it off they run out of money.
