Since that time the Vocational Agriculture De- partment has had many things of which to be proud. They have made most of their own furnishing for the room. They have held successful Father and Son Banquets, each one being better than the one before. They have given their first honorary membership this year and will continue to give one each year. They have had 2 teams in the state apple judging contest, 9 teams in state vegetable judging contest, l team in the state dairy judging contest, 5 teams in the state livestock judging con- test and 1 boy in the state pub- lic speaking contest. There . is one livestock team, one dairy judging and a crops judging team on their way to the state contest this year. In October, 1945 the F., Fo. A, sponsored an F,F,A, and community Fair. There were about 350 exhibits « entered, About 500 people came in the evening to see the exhibits, In October, 1946 again the Fair was held, About 500 exhibits and entered and about 900 people came for the eve ening performance and to see the exhibits, There are five seniors in the F,F, this year, They are Walter -Brydak, Vernon Clark, Harry Kaminski, David Rzepka and William Troxell, Walter, Vernon, Harry and David have bean in the FP, F, A, for three years and Bill has heen a member for four years. CHORUS WORK The Chorus has been under the direction or lr. Eslinger for the last three years. This is the first year that the chorus bës competed in any social work, They got a first in the district in year and went to the state con- test. For the last two years New Carlisle has rated high an both district and state contests, Last year New Carlisle rated second but this year they came through with first rating, The Seniors, who have complet- 60 their senior year will receive awards. These awards are given on “an honor and meri: ۰ he Seniors, who will receive : honory awards for outstanding work in band and solos and ensembles, are as follows: Dale Kettring Miriam Campbell Jane Ann Nickerson Lillian Buzalski Marilyn Wilson Merit Award Elmer Johnson James Lindsey Ann Tuszynski Lawrence Brom The Seniors, who are the most outstanding in band are as follows: Dale Kettring has participated in solos and ensemble rating very high in this. HE has “been in the New Carlisle Band for six years playing the trumpet. Miriam Campbell,an outstanding accompianist on the piano, has been accepted by the Ball State University of Music,and she plans to enter this fall. We also wauld like to credit to some outstanding iors who have played in the band for six years.» These are. «Jane Ann Nickerson, Marilyn Wilson,and Dale Kettring, who has ' been in the ¿band the longest. We wish to take this opport- unity to thank our band director, Wilbur Eslinger, who has put up with a lot the last four years. Thank you, Mr. Eslinger!
