THESPIAN CLUB The Thespian Club was organized pri- marily to provide a means of dramatic ex- pression for underclassmen who are not able to participate in class plays. The club, directed and sponsored by Mr. Lewis, has produced a one-act play by Thornton Wilder, entitled A Happy Journey to Camden and Trenton, which was performed at the Christmas assembly. The members of the cast were Demptser Leech, Kate Colburn, John Goodhue, Bar- bara Ford, David Gibb, and Mary Ann Billera. Lighting was handled by Mike Malarney. BRIDGE CLUB Under the direction ot Mr. Maier, the Bridge Club was organized in order to give experi- enced players a chance to play and inexperi- enced players a chance to learn. The members hoped to bridge the gap between the two groups before the end of the year. RADIO CLUB This year's radio club provided an out- let for the energies ofa number of electronic- ally-minded hams. Under the guidance of Mr. Pelletier KWTLZCJ, a ham since 1939, they often held code practice and exchanged news and technical data among themselves. The three general license holders are Dave Austin CKT EHQJ, Tom Evans KKT IJFJ, and Dave Pomfret CKTDLMJ. .lim Thornblade CWTAABI holds a technician class license, and Bill Kings- bury CKNT IWTJ and Kaspar Liepins KKNT KAVJ hold novice licenses. AUDIO-VISUAL SQUAD The Audio-Visual squad, directed by Mr. Lind, runs electronic equipment for the teach- ers and is also in charge of the lighting, sound, and technical equipment in the audi- torium. Under the squad's able supervision, stereophonic sound was effectively used for the first time during the iunior play. To be on the squad, one must have an A. V. card, which is acquired by passing an examination. The holder is then authorized to operate the school's specialized equip- ment. DEBATING CLUB Is Labor Too Strong? Should America Have Intervened In Hun- gary C'l956J? Interesting topics such as these were contested in formal debates and occasional informal discussions by this year's debating club. The purpose of the club was to give experience in formal debating procedures, to encourage clear thought and speech, and to help the students think carefully about controver- sial subjects. MATHEMATICS CLUB Under the direction of Mr. Lit- tlefield, this year's semi-active Mathematics Club interested it- self in a variety of topics. Among these were mathematical recrea- tions Cthey spent months trisect- ing angles and designing per- petual motion machinesl, logic fif it is foggy today, Whitey Ford will winj, set theory, and the slide rule.
