Many people wonder what it is when they see pictures plastered upon a page headed Government Day. This is a day when the city officials of New Buffalo take time to show students the manner in which our town is handled. It also exhibits the different jobs offered to the citizens of our community. To become a part of Government Day students began by campaigning for the different positions offered. Following the campaigning students were either elected or appointed to office. The elected positions were as follows: Terry Huet, Mayor: Max Turley, justice of the Peaceg Elise Behner, Chuck Covert, Dan l-lays, and Marsha Williamson, councilmen. The appointed positions were: jim Krycka--police chief, Gay Williams-- city treasurer, Anita Dehne--city clerk, Sharon Walk--city manager, Dave Multack--city attorney, Pat Melgin--supervisor, and Mike Debiak - -sanitation superintendent. 84
