DAVID KUTLIROFF Department Head Is this clear? The maior aim of the Science Department is to encourage the student to employ deductive reasoning in the solving ot problems. Through application of the basic principles of the science, be it biology, chemistry or physics, the student solves problems and attempts to discover new ideas. This process of logical reasoning will be useful to the student throughout his college career and the rest of his life. Another aim of the Science Department is to instill in the student a curiosity about the world around him. The sciences are not limited to lust college- bound students, however. Courses in general biology and general chemistry are designed to give the non-college- bound student a glimpse into science as well as to develop his ability to make and record observations and to work precisely in the laboratory.
