Counseled on individual, home room, and class bases, each student has the opportunity to attain the highest personal development of which he is capable. The Guidance Department attempts to answer questions con- cerning course requirements, personal problems, school records, and future plans of each individual. GEORGE KRAUSS Department Head I d0n't want to waste time talking, but . . . The Art and Music Departments give to those students who have the ability a chance for expression. These students also are encouraged to develop these abilities and interests under qualified supervision. The courses which are offered by the Art Department include acquaintance with all phases of art and experi- mentation with various media. The students are in- structed in the basics of the field and are encouraged to develop their own talent, creativity, and self-expression. The Art Department participates in school proiects such as illustrating the school publications and preparing decorations for social functions. The Department also presents student exhibits for the enjoyment of the faculty and student body. The Music Department offers instruction in music appreciation, choral work, orchestra, and band. In music appreciation class, students develop a solid appreciation of music combined with the fundamental elements of music. The choral work includes an acquaintance with fine music through listening. The orchestra and band are open to all students and offer diverse types of selections. Special activities of the Music Department include the A Cappella Choir and the Stage Band. All organizations of the department participate in assembly programs, broadcasts, and concerts. Instead, an upright and alert character must also be present in a sound body to insure success in today's world. The New Brunswick High School Physical Education Department hopes to build perceptive and intelligent minds as well as vigorous, well-disciplined bodies. The aim of this department is to develop, through health and safety classes, an understanding of proper social behavior and a sense of civic responsibility. As the Physical Education Department continues to strengthen our bodies, it, likewise, strives to foster not only a whole- some, competitive spirit but also socially accepted attitudes of behavior.
