E To some the years have been too long and to some they’ve been too short. Regardless of the time, they've been great. As the saying goes, We're the class with all the kicks. Senior Class of '66. n Football season brought us three senior football captains: Jimmy McCright, Ronald Collom, and Wesley Jordan. McCright and Collom were All-District. The senior-led basketball team won the District Co-Championship and also brought NBHS three tournament trophies. Jimmy McCright and Ronald Collom again received All-District distinctions. Besides being the largest senior class to ever graduate from NBHS, we are the first class to publish the Pine Cone annually. MARY LOIS ADDISON Band 1,2,3-AlI-Dist. 3-Alt. RONALD COLLOM ALL-DIST. EDDIE HOPKINS ALL-DIST, The 1965-66 LIONS had a very busy and successful year! Because of a lack of height, the LIONS weren't expected to be too successful this year. But with their hustle, desire to win, and pride in them- selves, the LIONS were able to achieve a season record of 30 wins against 4 losses. This record was bet- ter than any other New Boston record in Class A A history. In pre-district play the LIONS attained a 21-2 record. The LIONS brought home three tournament trophies. They won first place in the Texarkana Tournament, second place in the DeKalb Tournament, and third place in the Iron Belt Tournament at Daingerfield. Coach Otis Fox's LIONS continued their victory march into district play. The LIONS ended the district competition with a 9-1 record. This gave them District Co-Championship with Hooks. On February 17, the LIONS battled the Hornets from Hooks in Texarkana for the right to represent Dist- inct 13-AA in Bi-District play. After a hard fought and exciting battle before 4000 people, the proud.- LIONS succumbed to the taller Hornets by a score of 47-40. The leading scorers of the team were Jimmy McCright with an average of 19 points, Eddie Hopkins with 13, and Richard Wilson with 12. Ronald Collom and Wesley Jordan, playing good aggressive defense, rounded out the LIONS' starting five. For the first time in history, New Boston placed three men on the All-District Team, They were Jimmy McCright, Ronald Collom, and Eddie Hopkins. Jimmy was the unanimous choice for the second year in a row; he also led the district in the scoring average. The boys and Coach Fox are to be congratulated for their overcoming the lack of height to have the best record in the basketball history of New Boston High School.
