As our sponsor, she has put a lot of time and energy into money-making projects and class functions. Through her patience and organization we were able to make the money for our trip to Florida. It is our hope that the future will be prosperous and happy for Miss Ehler. and it is with fond memories that we dedicate the 1979 Beacon to her. SPECIAL THANKS The Senior class of 1979 would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Mary Ann Denninghoff and Mr. Stan Benton for being our class sponsors. Without their guidance, friendship, and leadership many of our projects would not have been successful. They devoted much time and effort in helping us raise money for our trip to Florida. We held many money-making projects such as bake sales, car washes, rummage sales, candle sales, a chili supper, and a T-shirt sale. It is with sincere appreciation for their work and effort that we say thank you for giving us a chance to spend one last week together for the last time of our high school years. 4 5 Administration BOARD OF EDUCATION AND ADMINISTRATION LEFT TO RIGHT: Richard Ferguson - Vice-President; Sandra Haymart - Secretary; Ollie Shaon - President; Thomas Kurucz - Superintendent; Connie Bess Treasurer; Paul Renoe - Member; Not Shown: Howard Berry - Member. Homer Randy Dennis CLASS HISTORY Alan Carolyn As we reflect back in time, we recall the year 1968. In the fall of ’68, forty youngsters began their stroll down the lane of 12 years of learning and new experiences. Fourteen of these youngsters entered school in the New Bloomfield School District. The first grade teacher was Mrs. Jobe. After eight years of knowledge, new teachers, different friends, and thinking on our own, we graduated from the eighth grade on May 29, 1975. In the fall of 1975 we took a giant step down the lane and started our freshman year off with Gordon May and Jack Rutledge as our sponsors, (and lots of hope for fun years ahead). Our sophomore year found us still plodding down the lane, a little confused, trying to decide what goals we were working for. Class sponsors were LaDonna Ehler and Gordon May. The highlight of our junior year was our play, “Pick a Boy, Any Boy,” directed by Mr. Schmidt. We were also excited about receiving our class rings. We took the Seniors on a trip to Six Flags to end up the year. Our Senior year started off with everyone being excited over the fact that we were finally Seniors. Our first big event was the Senior Play, “His Name was Aunt Nellie, directed by Debbie Cuno. We planned our graduation by ordering announcements and senior keys. We had several money-making projects this year to raise money for our trip to Florida. The Juniors showed their appreciation with a Junior-Senior Prom. Our final dav was Mav 18, 1979. Now as we reach the end of the lane, each of us will be on a new road, but we will take with us our memories of NBHS. As we begin our step forward into the future, we look back with regret that our days at NBHS have ended. We, the Seniors of 1979, would like to thank all the parents, sponsors, teachers, and classmates who have made our memories at NBHS fond ones. Josie Mark The Seniors of ’79 bid you farewell!
