Mrs. Fran Springer, Sponsor The seven that completed 12 years of school at New Bloomfield together: Barbara McKim, Gracia Yancey, Debbie Williams, Barry Mattern, James Underwood, Norma Nichols, and Steve Sapp. SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In September of 1956, eighteen scared and excited first graders enrolled in New Bloomfield School for the first time. That year, Miss Josie Fleming was their very capable teacher, who started them toward their ultimate goal — a diploma. In 1964, twenty-seven freshmen began their high school years, with Mr. Terry Jett as their sponsor. The following year, twenty-five sophomores, sponsored by Mrs. Carolyn Lumar, returned for another year at New Bloomfield. Down to Earth was presented by thirteen of the twenty-three juniors in 1967. Mrs. Linda Emery, the class sponsor, directed the play. With the money they earned from the play, the juniors took the seniors to St. Louis for Junior-Senior Day. They spent the day at Forest Park and shopping downtown. That evening, they dined at the River Queen, and then concluded the evening by viewing Hawaii at the Cinerama. 1968 has been a memorable and eventful year for all of the nineteen graduating seniors. Mrs. Fran Springer, senior sponsor, directed the class play, Rest As- sured, in which fourteen members of the class participated. Hobo Day, Junior- Senior Day in St. Louis, and Senior Day at the Lake of the Ozarks are only a few of the many, many enjoyable highlights of the senior year. Only seven of the original eighteen members of the class have completed all twelve years at New Bloomfield. However, all of the nineteen seniors leave the school with mixed joy and sorrow. Each individual has his own special memories, dreams, and ambitions. The class as a whole only hopes that the school will have been made better in some small way because of their presence, and that future graduating classes will derive as much pleasure from the school as they did. They also wish to thank very sincerely everyone — each teacher, parent, or schoolmate — who has helped them obtain this education which will aid them in meeting successfully all the challenges life has to offer. 12
