HIGHLIGHTS OF 1967-1968 This school year has been a very exciting one for all of us here at New Bloomfield. In September, we all returned reluctantly to school from our summer vacations. However, there were several new things and people at school which promised to make the year interesting. Some of the new members of the faculty and staff were: Mrs. Bonner, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Goodin, Mrs. Springer, Mr. Tomlin, Mr. Bellamy, Mr. Jatho, Mrs. Kincade, Mrs. Yows, and Mrs. Delores Nichols. We also saw a drivers education car, and a kindergarten was begun at the school for the first time. During October, the juniors presented their play Tune In On Terror. On the 31st, the basketball season began when we defeated Tuscumbia at our first home game. By November, our activities had really begun. Teachers' Meeting the 2nd-3rd provided a short vacation, but the Pep Club was busily planning a chili supper for the 8th. The Conference Tournament was held at Eugene from the 27th to December 2nd. Decem- ber also brought the Linn Tournament from the llth-15th; the 21st was the date of the annual Christmas program. January brought a new year, and even more exciting events and activities. Among these were the bonfire on the 25th, and the homecoming on the 26th. February was also a busy month, with the Mokane Tournament the 5th-10th; the Junior High Tournament, and high school Dress-Up Day. During March, several class parties were held, and a number of scholars represented the school at the Interscholastic Meet at Kirksville. April and May were very busy months. Some of the events were: the senior play, Rest Assured, on the 5th; district and state music contests; Gym Night, the 18th; the Spring Dance, the 20th; Hobo Day, April 5th; the Spring Concert, May 3rd; the band and basketball banquets; and near the end of school, Junior-Senior Day, Senior Day at the Lake, Baccalaureate, Commencement, the senior banquet, and the eighth grade graduation. These are only a few of the many wonderful events which occurred this year, but we hope you have received an idea of how our time was spent -- besides studying! BOARD OF EDUCATION LEFT TO RIGHT: Donald Sweeten, Jack Maddox, Alden L. Schuster, Nel- son Dozier, Harry Palm- er, and Walter (Buddy) Clark.
