In September, 1961, twenty-five green freshmen entered the high school of New Bloomfield. Mr. Pete Butler was the sponsor of this wild group. The next year found twenty-two serving N.B. as silly sophomores. This class had Mr. Trask as their class sponsor. It's Great to be Crazy was the title of the play a cast of fifteen presented as a junior project. Mr. Pat McNeeley was director of this play. A panel of five, assisted by the entire class, won second place in the Missouri Power and Light sponsored Planned Progress contest. Miss Margie Schmerbach was the faculty advisor. 1964, the year of graduation, has fast approached, and school is over! This has been a memorable year for all the fifteen seniors who have enjoyed this past year of fun-filled activities: Junior-Senior Day, Senior Day, Hobo Day, and all other adventures undertaken. 10 Miss Vaughan Sponsor DAVID ALLEN MARTHA BARNARD Chorus ................1,2,3,4 Planned Progress ...............3 Class Play ...................3,4 Pep Squad..............1,2,3,4 Basketball.............1,2,3,4 Annual Staff ...................4 Music Contest.................2,3 Operetta........................3 Inter-State Scholastic Meet....3 Chorus Clinic ..................4 Sextet .......................3,4 Planned Progress Representative .3 President................. Martha Barnard wills her safe driving ability on Saturday nights to Connie Anderson. Clark Bedsworth wills his ability to skip school and get by with it to Elmer Spillars. I, Wayne Blair, will all my weight to Rodger Palmer. (Take it easy, Chubby!) I, Robert Boyd, leave my ability to skip school every Friday afternoon to David Dozier; my good, slow driv- ing to Fred Palmer; and my good luck to get through bookkeeping to anyone who wants it. Jamie Finley - I will my ability to get to school on time to Donnie Smith. Peggy Finley wills her constant attendance to physical education to all the junior boys since they haven't this year. Sandy Jenkins wills her ability to SWING to Marilyn Brooks, who really can't see it. Jolene Mattem - I will my ability to get to all the basketball games to Martha Maddox. Judy Maddox wills her ability to type dittos to whomever is Mr. Karr's assistant next year. Jean Salmons wills her ability to say and do the right thing at the right time to Carol Allen. Darlene Smith wills her many assets and liabilities to anyone who may need them in bookkeeping next year. Bertha Taggart - To the dear old school building itself, we leave the peaceful quiet caused by our absence; and any apple cores, wads of gum, or crumpled notes we may have left. I, Elaine Wilson, will my ability to get a boy and keep him through four years of high school to anyone who will try it. Larry Wolfmeier wills his ability to get along with Miss Schmerbauch to Doyle Reynolds. (Talk sweet, Doyle.) To Mrs. Gaddy, we all leave our willingness to help on the annual layouts, to always be on the lookout for good snapshots, and all our hard work on the Beacon. Better luck next year! 17 JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS: Richard Shaffer, president; Marilyn Brooks, sec- retary; Rodger Palmer, vice-president; Susan Lynes, treasurer (not pictured). First Place Celebration e add QropU cy If, by some chance, in some twenty years or so, the secretary of the Senior Class of 1964, New Bloomfield High, should receive reports from the class members, this is perhaps how they would read: David Allen Dave is now a stock car driver at Daytona 500. Martha Barnard Now Martha is making plans for a trip around the world after finding a sunken chest of gold on the Gulf of Mexico. Clark Bedsworth Admitting he owes it all to his days at N.B. High, Clark is now a professional Pool Player. Wayne Blair Dr. Blair is employed at the Central High School, Springfield, as the school psychiatrist, dealing only with the problem cutups in the senior class. Robert Boyd Rob is now the owner of four golf courses and was retired at the age of thirty. James Finley Jamie is in Alaska now teaching the Eskimos to swim. Peggy Finley Peg is now located somewhere in the South Pacific gathering coconuts for all her jungle friends. Sandra Jenkins The wife of a non-denominational missionary, Sandy is with her husband, serving in South Africa. Jolene Mattern Just watch CBS-TV network some evening, and you can see Jolene there, with 99% fewer cavities, with Crest. Judy Maddox In New York City, Judy is a taxicab driver. Jean Salmons Jean is the head of the Home Economics Department at Stephens College. Darlene Smith After giving up all hopes of becoming a teacher, Darlene is now employed as Fat Lady in the Greatest Show on Earth. Bertha Taggart After changing her name, BERTHA is working as a secret agent for the FBI. Elaine Wilson Elaine is conducting guided tours on the moon with her husband, Gary, as the pilot of the space ship. Larry Wolfmeier In Washington, D.C., you can find Larry rushing rocks to the new U.S. Building, so he can get home to his wife, the former Carol Allen.
