It was conducted by the high school students and was their own idea. We extend thanks to all of them. 29 30 31 Class History In the year of 1942, New Bloomfield school saw the beginning of twelve years of turmoil, excitement, and humor that had not been foreseen. We the class of '55, begem our schooling at this time. Of the many that started that year, only two have completed their twelve years here. They are Jimmy Trammell and Dale Lawson. In the second grade we were joined by Jimmy Quinn and Billy Holt. Carl Norman joined in the third and Leroy Boyer in the sixth. Thus we progressed into high school. In our freshman year Sandra Finley and Joan Wefenstette returned to the class. Both had been with us before. We gained Cecil McDaniel, Melvin Meyer, and Mary Kemp. As we went into our sophomore year, we lost a few but it made no serious changes in our class. The junior year was the same. As we came to the last one, the senior year, the lineup was: Tommy Criswell, Carl Norman, Leroy Boyer, Jimmy Quinn, Jimmy Trammell, Dale Lawson, Bill Holt, Cecil McDaniel, Melvin Meyer, Sandra Finley, Mary Kemp, Joan Wefenstette, and one newcomer, Brice Umstead. Thus we came to the end. We have provided many a laugh and many a gray hair on the teachers’ heads. We will never forget New Bloomfield, nor will New Bloomfield forget us. Seniors of '55. 32 Class Will My friends, I have called you to assemble here as a solemn duty, that you, the heirs and assigns of my respected client, the class of 1955, may hear her last will and testament, which, as her legal advisor, I drew as directed by her, immediately prior their passing from our presence. May I, as well as my lamented client, entreat that you receive your re- spective legacies in the spirit of unselfish friendship with which they were given ? We the class of 1955, in the town of New Bloomfield, the county of Callaway, and the state of Missouri, being in as good mental condition as usual, and in much better temper than usual, do hereby dispose of our possessions. Item.--We give and bequeath to the Junior class our well-known nerve, which they will need next year, and all the examination questions we have been given during the past year. We believe that an examination, like history, often repeats itself. Item.--To our good friends, the Sophomore class, we leave our patience. It will be found useful as the only means by which they can endure the Juniors. Item.--To the young and unsophisticated Freshmen we leave a map of the school building, so that they will not get lost and roam about in everybody’s way looking for their classrooms. Item.--To our teachers, the faculty of the New Bloomfield High School, we hereby give, free from all inheritance, luxury, or income tax, our entire store of knowledge. From them it came and to them it should be returned, that others may be benefited by it as we have been. Besides these bequests, we the class of 1955, leave the following items: Item.--Leroy Boyer bequeaths his ability to play basketball to Leroy Baker, keep powr’ing them through—Baker. Item.--Jimmy Trammell bequeaths his ability to keep one girl all the time to Richard Heller, keep in good with them Richard. Item.--Melvin Meyer bequeaths his ability to always get good grades to all the girls that will be in the Junior class next year. Item.--Billy Holt bequeaths his ability to argue to Elsie Maddox, don't let anybody talk you into anything without an argument, Elsie. Item.--Carl Norman bequeaths his ability to keep a Ford on the road to Jimmy Coots; proper use will insure you against a nervous breakdown. Item.--Tommy Criswell bequeaths his ability to flirt to Oliver Jones, be careful Oliver, as it is a precious gift. Class Will, Continued Item.--Sandra Finley bequeaths her naturally red hair to Judy Murphy, be careful when you wash it Murph,--it might wash out. Item.--Mary Kemp bequeaths her freckles to Dorothy Rackers, cherish them-- ‘Dot. ” Item.--Dale Lawson bequeaths his ability to get away with things in class to Ronnie Smith, be careful Ronnie those teachers have good eyes. Item.--Brice Umstead bequeaths his easy going way to Jimmy Keeling, tone down Jim, you could use this gift. Item.--Joan Wefenstette bequeaths her ability to do nothing in class to Alpha Woolsey, make use of this Alpha. Item.—Cecil McDaniel bequeaths his manly dignity and feeling of pride to Jimmy Brockman, “Grin and wear it”--Jim. Item. — Jimmy Quinn bequeaths his supply of language to Jerry Allen, which will enable the recipient to talk more and say less than any other human being. We do hereby name and appoint as the sole executor of this will and testament, our class advisor. Miss Helen Vaughan. 35 Class Prophecy The members of the class of 1955 have been very much interested in crystal gazing, many of them have taken profound courses in such awe-inspiring phases of the subject. By gazing into our crystal ball, we have found that we can see into the future. Having discovered this we looked for the Seniors of 1955. We found them at the Missouri Hotel at their 10th annual class reunion. By reading the place cards we found we gained this information. Jimmy Quinn is now vice-president of NBC Studios in New York. He can afford a better car now, but he still keeps his Ford for sentimental reasons. Billy Holt is now the secretary to the President of the United States. He gained this position after his Brother-in-Law was elected President. Jimmy Trammell is now the owner of Great Central Lumber Company. He and his wife now have four children. His wife is the former Carolyn Wilson. Cecil McDaniel is now with Dooley Construction Company on a partnership basis. He gained this position the hard way; he worked up from the bottom. Tommy Criswell is now a Frog Man. He joined the UDT of shame, when his wife beat him for highest honors in college. Carl Norman is now the owner of a successful dairy which is being run by his wife, formerly Miss Sonja Craighead. While working on his '41 Ford, he developed a new transmission which made him a fortune. Dale Lawson is now station manager of KRCB-TV. Rumor is that he will soon be building a station of his own. Leroy Boyer, having been fired from his truck driving job, is now living off his wife’s salary. She is the former Miss Sandra Finley. Sandra Finley, having made her place in the world as the foremost hair stylist, is now supporting her husband in their country home. Melvin Meyer, who got sick of chickens, is now raising pheasants. He is doing great business with the hotels in the country. Mary Kemp, having inherited money from her rich uncle, bought a mink farm. She is now considered the best-dressed woman in the world. Brice Umstead who joined the F.B.I. when he got out of school, has recently been promoted to J. Edgar Hoover’s job. Joan Wefenstette just returned from Hollywood where she just finished her latest picture.
