Cutting so rapidly loose from life, and finding so many things of such gigantic proportions to be attended to before the end should come upon her, realizing at the same time that she had no longer any time left to spend in cultivation of her own virtues, she did, collectively and individually, deem it best to distribute these virtues with her own hands to those friends to whose needs they seem best fitted. As a result of this announcement a wild scene took place amidst most frantic pleading and scrambling among her friends for this or that so long coveted glory; but she has tried to be just, as well as generous and impartial, and distribute wisely unto those who will make the best use of such gifts as she has in her power to bestow, the talents that have served her so faith- fully these four years. These are her decisions, as at last definitely arrived at through very deliberate consideration, owing to the flight condition of her brain, and the unusual disturbance in its gray matter, she begs me to state for her that she may quite possibly have been mistaken in her inventory; but such things as she thinks she has, she hereby gives into your possession, praying that you will accept them as a sacred trust from one who has gone before. Listen, then, one and all, while I read the document, as duly drawn up and sworn to; SHIRLEY BOREN wills her ability to write letters to SALLY HAMPTON. Air Mail is the best way, Sally. LOLA MURPHY wills her geometry ability to PATSY HURLEY. Hope she gets them better than I did. PHYLLIS GATHRIGHT wills her ability to get into trouble to MARY DOOLING; Careful, Mary! DORECE SWEETEN wills her music makin' man to MARY KEMP. Take good care of him Mary. POLLY YANCEY wills her ability to do the Charleston to HAROLD JONES. We give and bequeath to the Junior Class all such boys as were not able to keep pace with such brilliant girls as compose the majority of our class, trusting that the Junior girls may be able to hold firmly to them and steer them firmly next year through the gates of Commencement, that they may not share in the humiliation that has been ours at not being able to “hold our men folks, as the women of the world put it. Class Advertiser Strange things happen to us sometimes and mysterious gifts are apt to fall “out of the everywhere” into our hands just when we least expect them. I had said I would never be surprised at anything, but when a newspaper dropped into my lap from the very air about me, I was willing to take back the rash vow I had made, for it was certainly a startling occurrence, to say the least, to say nothing of my amazement when I read the name and date “New Bloomfield Advertiser, June 30, 1962.“ Where did it come from? And what could it all signify to me? I was never one to remain long in suspense when the means of gratifying my curiosity was at hand, or obtainable, and I opened the paper hastily ana irom the records of ten years yet unborn here are some of the things I read. I only marked those I thought would be of most interest to you: Miss Dorece Sweeten, wealthy model and divorcee, after divorcing her tenth husband has announced that she will enter the St. Francis convent to become a nun. At the interview she said “I simply loath men.” Miss Lola Murphy, landowner and stock-broker who won a special «scholar ship to Notre Dame will take the position as president of Vassar College in the fall. Miss Shirley Boren, is now the wife of a five star general. The general and she make their home with their four children in El Paso, Texas. By the way the four children are quadruplets. Miss Phyllis Gathright, the famous dress designer has announced she will take up “Hot-rod“ racing. She will enter the hot-rod called “Farley Granger”, in the national races in France this summer. Miss Polly Yancey, the famous balloon dancer has bought a night club in Cairo, Egypt. She has trouble with her balloons and will pay a good price for balloons of good quality that will not break easily.
