MacDonald, a Duke University graduate with majors in Zoology and education, was elected to his present position in 1947. Mr. MacDonald has devoted his time and energies to the progress of the New Bern City Schools, for Linder his leadership our accreditation has been strengthened, our cirriculum broad- ened, and our physical plants improved and broadened. In addition to his influence in the schools, Mr. MacDonald has made a significant contribution to the city through his participation in civic organizations. He is a thirty-second degree Mason, a member of the New Bern Rotary Club, New Bern Historical Society, North Carolina Educational Association, National Educational Association, North Carolina Congress of Parents and Teachers, and a member of the Centenary Methodist Church. He continues now as in the past to be interested in the growth and progress of our schools. Mr. MacDonald, a gentleman with courage, vision, and wisdom, is our su- perintendent and our friend.
