CLASS OF '52 LESS THAN OUR BEST IS FAILURE CLASS FLOWER---------Yellow Rose CLASS COLORS--------Blue and White CLASS ADVISOR-------Mr. James E. Hartnett Although never actually our official advisor, we would like to express our thanks and appre - elation to Principal Frederick Feltz, who is now on leave of absence to fulfill a military position . Many hours of his time were devoted to us as friends in need of advice. We wish all the best to him until we meet again. THE SENIOR CLASS Class History Twelve brave innocent children are left of the valiant band that courageously began school one day in September, 1939, under Miss Caroline Marvin and Mrs. Maxine Manchester. These honored personalities are none other than David Page, Arthur Button, Philip Fairchild, Eugene Johnson, Janet Button, Faye Spicer, Carol Angell, Dorothy Whitmore, Margaret Scribner, Betty Cadwell, Nancy Spicer, and Mary Austin. As we struggled through the years various new pupils and teachers joined the league until now in 1952, we have a class of twenty - seven that will soon be scattered in all directions. As we passed from grade to grade and from teacher to teacher, we were judged intellectuals and dullards, angels and devils, beauties and beasts, by our parents and teachers. Once - they even thought we were a group of geniuses - - but soon found out we weren’t. We were always a noisy class. Even now Mrs. McFarland has trouble getting us quiet. We were the objectives of many adjectives but we will let old troubles stay where they are. Our high school days started four years ago for most of us. These were filled with efforts to fatten our treasury so we could go on the traditional Senior trip in the spring of 1952. Our officers during the Fresh - man year were: Janet Button, President; Mary Austin, Vice President; James Hansen, Treasurer; and Velma Bound, Secretary. Mr. Cahill and Miss Eckart were selected to be our advisors. Our Sophomore officers were: Dave Page, President; Faye Spicer, Vice President; Judy Hoadley, Treasurer; and Sarita Runion, Secretary. This was the year we ordered our class rings. After much dis - cussion we selected the ring Enterprise. ” Dave proved such a good administrator that he was re - elected in our Junior year with Dorothy Whit - more as Vice President, Betty Cadwell, Treasurer; and Sarita Runion, Secretary. The two top events of the year were the Junior play, We Shook the Family Tree, ” and the Junior Prom with Stan Rolen and Faye Spicer, king and queen. Both events were a huge success. Our final year opened with David again taking the Presidency, Dorothy Whitmore, Vice President; Sarita Runion, Treasurer; and Ray Wells, Secretary. Our new history teacher, Mr. Hartnett (Uncle Jim), was chosen to be our advisor as Mr. Cahill had left. Mr. Hewitt, the new English teacher, worked un - tiringly withus to complete the two major Senior activities, the Senior play, Our Girls, ” and the pro - duction of The Tempus, the high school annual. Now that our academic education is nearing an end we feel that the class of 1952 is the most un - usual class to have passed through the portals of New Berlin Central School. Senior Class Prophecy The prodigy of New Berlin Central School, alias the class of '52, wishes a prognostication of ten years hence - - thereby aiding each of them in their plans for the years ahead. To aid in this search of the future, theclass unanimously decided to borrowStanley Rolen's Future - O - Gram, a superlative invention which empowers persons to penetrate the veil of time and speed into the years beyond. There was only one thing, however, which the class could not decide upon - who should take this coveted journey? It is evident that only the most precocious, trustworthy, and scrupulous persons could set out on such a phenomenal excursion. Finally it was decided that Mr. Malcolm J. Hewitt and Mr. James E. Hartnett should be the chosen ones, so one day we pushed them aboard the Future - O - Gram and started them on their precarious expedition into the excursion beyond. To our bewilderment they returned shortly with appalling results . As we scrutinized the years ahead portrayed by the ambassadors of the universe, we find: Sarita Runion, touring Europe and South America is a famed concert pianist, loved by all. She ac - companied for David Page who gives recitals in his spare time. He is now an engineer of considerable fame. Virginia Liddle was found doing well in her career as a WAVE. She is now the commander of Speedy Enterprise. In a radio message given over the WALL network (owned and operated by Alan Wall) it was reported that Commander Liddle met her former classmate, Sam Sawyer, who is doing missionary work in foreign lands. Carol Angell is touring the world in her spare time offered by her teaching profession. Once she encountered Leslie Moore operating a dude ranch with his partner, Arthur Button. One of their steady visitors is Richard Stormes. who has been painting western scenes for The Open Road. Willard Hendrickson and Philip Fairchild have become successes in the field of farming. The former Miss Betty Cadwell has written several books on the subject and is assisted by first hand farm information. In a fashionable beauty salon in New York City, Nancy Spicer, even prettier than when occupied with N. B. C. S., is in charge of the coiffure department. Seated at the driers are two smart secretaries - Margaret Scribner and Josephine Norton. Both are working for the High School Trip to Mars, Inc. Miss Faye I. Spicer has become a successful doctor's assistant. She is now in Northern Europe attend - ing the Olympics and assisting the doctor with injured football players. Janet Button in the field of medi - cine operates a robot basketball team in her spare time. (The captain thus sits on her lap whenever she wishes). Her team has been given opposition only by Gene Johnson's Earth Roamers. Gene devotes most of his time to his home life. Mary Austin, art critic, interior decorator, and editor of Immaculate magazine has been quoted as saying Design your home for your life. Marvin Maxson is in the field of industry, making cyclotrons. He is the president of the firm, and works in the shop putting washers on pegs as he can do it faster than any of his workers. Gerald Huggins and James Hansen have gone in business for themselves. Their friend Raymond Wells does all their engi - neering work for them. His motto, It will be well done by Wells. Dorothy Whitmore is an exceptional organist and housewife. She is now in the ministerial work with her husband. Helen Coman, working as an efficient teacher in a centralized school, educates her pupils with advanced methods. Mr. Rolen was busy in his lab when the future found him. He became a pharmicist but in his spare time he is working on an apparatus known as the Past Machine which will enable him and his former classmates to retreat to those good'ole school days of yore. VARSITY Although they lost the last league game and an undefeated league season the Cinderella Kids turned in a very im - pressive 9-1 record and a respectable overall record of 11 - 3. This record was good enough to put the boys into the Eastern Zone Playoffs of Section IV. The 11-3 season was due to the excellent coaching of Coach Fry who tutored his boys in a slow shifting man - to - man defense. This year’s squad will lose the services of four graduating Seniors, Gene Johnson, Dave Page, Gerry Huggins and Stan Rolen. B. C. S. was the fall of 1951. The biggest reasons for the 1 victory, 4 defeat record was lack of experience. The years scoring honors was well divided up with Gene Johnson scoring 38 followed by Charles Johnson who scored 24. Carl Sutton and David Page both scored 12 points each. baseball The baseball team in the 1950 season was almost completely reversed from that of 1949. We only won 3 and lost 7, a record that is not admirable. This year’s failure could be due to a number of things. Fate seemed to be pitching against this year's N.B. C. S. team.
