Grind Gnverumenf Day The General Court has enacted chapter 561 which provides that the Governor designate the second Friday in January as Good Govern- ment Day . The Chapter also provides for a Student Senate and a Student House of Representatives. The selection of the student officers for these two bodies was made by a drawing similar to that used by Selective Service during World Wars I and II. Governor Robert F. Bradford, the other constitutional officers, and the twenty heads of -State Departments gathered at the Governor's office on Friday, January 9, 1948. There, from the fish bowl containing the names of the two hundred and eighty winners, the names of the officers of Good Government Day were drawn. On Friday, February 20, 1948 the student officers took over the government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the day. L. Ruggles Porter of New Bedford Vocational High School was elected as State Representative. He is a member of the Senior Class. Fifty-cfiglzt
