cause Mary turned him down for Freddie . But wait! A little red-head has appeared and Allen looks interested. Standing in the corner practicing her singing is Alice LaFerriere - famous star of Tin-Pan Alley - South End, New Bedford! Standing next to Alice is Lenny Rocha, the big-game hunter. You can read about his exploits in a book he has just finished entitled Hunting Tibbars in the Wilds of Acushnet . Tibbars are rabbitts spelled backwards! Talking with Lenny is a group of distinguished men namely Abel Moinheiro, William Lundrigan and Roland LaPire. These gentlemen own the famous club El Bandito . Over at the candy counter are Lorraine Tetreault and Claire Poirier eating a licorice stick, one at each end trying to outdo the other. Refereeing this battle of the licorice stick is Donald Negus. Hanging from the roof by his toes inspecting the eaves is Edwin Makara. Look- ing up at Makara are Frank LaPolla and Walter Gonet laughing their heads off. They don't know that Russell Tripp is about to give them a hot foot. The sports world is also well represented by the mighty Lenny Benevides, slugging infielder of The Mudville Nine . Soccer is an up and coming sport in New Bedford. It is well represented by such stars as Manuel Rego, Stanley Skozolek, Bronislaw Patla, Arthur Rose, John Williamson and Edmund Squawkie Quadros. All these men play for the Kick-em-in-face Athletic Club. Harmonizing in the center of the station is the famous quartet, Earl Rogers, joseph DeCosta, Edward Cormier and Frank Lynch. These men are better known as Awfully Flat Four . Now I see William McGreevy, lugging a bag of potatoes onto the station plat- form. Mr. McGreevy is planning to open a french fried potatoes concession at the Nose Bowl. Entering the depot are Herve and Henry Arsenault, Gene Oliver, and Gilbert Rauch, - founders of the Fancy Wrecking Co. Directly behind these three are Don- ald Audette and Dorothy Gryss, famous dance team and with them is their manager, Joe forty-per-cent Bowler. Following close behind are Andre Le Beau, the well-known whistler, and David Oliver's equally well-known band, Well, here comes the train at last! All the celebrities are boarding the train with much excitement. And will you look who's engineer! Antone Kalz with his fireman Herbert Turner. It's time to leave you now, for the train is pulling out. I'll be with you again at St. Louis, Missouri. There the rest of the alumni will board the train for the trip westward. St. Louis - 1 day, 6 hours, 42 minutes 4 seconds later. We stop to take on the rest of the Class of '48. They are the ones who moved westward to seek their fame and fortune. As the train pulls in, I see standing on the platform that Olympic snow-ball throw- ing champion, Joe Linkiewicz. He is standing with two hot rod makers, Howard Mal- lowes and Edward Souza and are joined by the Mad Ukrainian , Fred Nazarchyk of radio fame. Class Prophecy continued on page 50 Forty-seven
