611155 frophfcy OOD Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen. This is your radio reporter, Tom Johansen, down at the New Bedford railroad station, awaiting the arrival of the alumni from the New Bedford Vocational High School, class of '48. They are about to board the train enroute to California where they will see the Nose Bowl Game. Among these graduates are some very prominent citizens, who just ten years ago graduated from the illustrious Vocational High, when New Bedford was but a small, one-horse town, today it's much larger and is not a two-horse town. I see coming onto the platform some of New Bedford's leading citizens and promi- nent business men. Heading the procession are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grimley. Mrs. Grimley is the former Betty Seifert. Mr. Grimley is founder and president of the Grimley Hats, Inc. whose goofy creations would make Hedda Hopper blush. Directly behind the Grimleys are Dr. and Mrs. Steve Bastoni. Mrs. Bastoni was formerly Sheila Harrington and she is now known as Swisha Bastoni , star of the Romper Girls Basketball Team. Coming thru' the door is Jimmie Pallatroni, compounder of that rare cure-all Pal-a-Tronies for the stomach. With the wealthy Mr. Pallatroni are Ruggles Porter and Robert Cryer, assistant football coaches at Vassar College for women. They seem contented at their work. Over at the far end of the station I see three men who have distinguished them- selves in politics for kissing babies. They are Fernando Roderiques, George Sullivan and William Sylvia. Mr. Claude Henderson is the designer of the new steam-airplane, which is sweep- the country. As far as I know, thatls all it's good for. It can't fly. With Henderson are Captain Herbert Olivierre, of the None-Better Coal Barge and Joe Pryor, the eminent pigeon trainer. The train isn't due to leave for another hour yet, so leave us look over the mob. Over in the corner, leaning on his cue, is the billiard-shark-John Bielski. Bielski has just completed his book on How to make a three-cushioned billiard shot without chalking your cue . This book can be bought at any second-hand bookstore -- 3 for ten cents. Also thrown in for free are a cue and a rack of billiard balls. And now a word from our sponsor, The Lawrence Sylvia Water Bucket Co. The Sylvia water buckets are made of the finest material and can withstand any and all punishment issued upon them but take one precaution. Do not put water in them - they leak! Now let us look around and see who else we know. I see standing over at the pop-corn machine in his ten-gallon hat, movie star Warren Two-Gun Tripp of Western Melodramas . Holding up the wall near the gum machine is the famous maker of false teeth for reindeers - Donald Dloughy and tieing Dloughy's shoe-laces is his valet, Frederick Roscow. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Freddie Beauregard and his wife, the former Mary Forrest, are casually munching a cake of ice. Ward Allen is giving them the cold shoulder be- Foriy-six
