TRIBUTE Professor FRED BEARDSWORTH Head of Weaving Department Professor Beardsworth came to New Bedford from Leyland, England, in 1913. He had been in the textile industry for a period of fifteen years before accept- ing a teaching position at Tech. Except for a brief period during 1934-1935, Pro- fessor Beardsworth has continually been associated with the Institute. Many of those years were in the capacity of soc- cer coach. The kindness and understanding char- acterized by Professor Beardsworth have commanded respect and admiration from all. His sense of fairness and his un- biased attitude have done much to broad- en our outlook on life. We, his students, will be ever grateful to him for the help he has given us in attaining knowledge and in developing high ideals. Professor FRANK HOLDEN Head of Yarn Manufacturing Department Born in Oldham, England, Mr. Holden came to the United States in 1910. Fol- lowing 24 years in the textile industry he joined the faculty here at New Bed- ford Tech. Promotion to Head of the Yarn Manufacturing Department follow- ed in 1926. Professor Holden through his vast experience in the textile industry has been able to guide many textile majors as they concluded their college studies and prepared to take their places in in- dustry. His unselfish and untiring ef- forts to aid students in their studies and in their obligations have made him an outstanding personality here at the In- stitute.
