SO THIS [IS HIGH SCHOOL — ! finished my English term paper in typing class, one period before it was due. —How can they‘hand you a number two pencil and a sheet of paper and ask you to blacken eighteen years of knowledge into a bunch of tiny rectangles? — Yesterday, I took a Math Test in Sth period class to make up the test that I should have taken in 3rd period class, but didn’t, because I was absent when 3rd period class took the test that I had to take in Sth period class. — I’ve worn two pair of jeans all year long. — With the rise in prices, dope is costing me too damn much. — Twenty-five cents for this slop? — I] must go through a thousand changes in one day. — All I want is my diploma, so I can finally get the hell out of here. — The classes I enjoy the most are the ones where I know the teacher personally. — | sleep more in auditorium study than I do in my own bed. — | learned one important thing in high school: if you drink Instant Breakfast in the morning, you’ll be starving by lunchtime. — Everytime you raise your hand in class, the teacher puts a little check beside your name. — The time that you save by learning shorthand is spent in learning what all those little squiggles mean. — I met a lot of really great kids by writing notes on desk tops. — So why don’t the bubblers work? — We had this sub last week who looked like he was playing hooky from kindergarten. When he sat behind the desk, all you could see was the top of his crewcut. — If I don’t get some kind of deferment, I guess Ill leave the country. — When I handed him my note, he said that he didn’t believe I was sick. So I coughed in his face. — The only time I feel that I’m accomplishing some- thing is when I’m playing sports. — I didn’t know any of the kids on the election ballot, so I voted for the one who had the most a’s in his name. — Have you heard from any schools yet? — Hey ... don’t be shy with your paper. — Will all the teachers please send down a list of stu- dents who were out of the classroom prior to the pre- vious fire drill. — | left it in my other notebook. — No veg. — What beep? I just raised my hand when all the oth- er kids did.

— It took me three years to realize that marks aren’t worth a damn. — Every time I walk by the draft board, I remember that I didn’t sign up. — Becoming eighteen only means that I can legally drive after 1 A.M. — D’you ever try to go to the john with a busted arm? No way. — I think I have every book of Cliff Notes that was ever written. — I dropped my plate and everyone started applauding. — If you skip on Friday the teacher usually forgets by Monday. — It’s not that I’m self-conscious or anything like that; I just look funny with my glasses on. — I thought it didn’t smell like a cigarette. — Please disregard t he bells. — I opened the door to the girl’s room, and it was like one giant puff of smoke. — Is that gum on your elbow? — I cheat by writing tiny notes on my book cover, and then leaving the book on my desk during the test. — I’m not paying fifty cents for a lousy test tube. — What periods do we skip? — The bell rings and we move like a huge flock of obedient sheep. — Doesn't anyone else know these cheers? — I just found out that we’re having a surprise quiz in chemistry. — I’m afraid of losing the security of high school. — Positive ID Required. — Aardvark, seat number one. Albino, seat number two. — It makes me feel great when people get lower grades than me. — Do you boys have permission? — After you memorize the 629 theorems, geometry’s not so bad. — Your homework tonight is to review for the test. — Marching in the band is okay, if you don’t mind having chipped teeth. — At first she slapped me; later she thanked me. — I just don’t have the time to join any clubs. — The days that I have my homework, she doesn’t collect it. — At least your acne is on your back, where it doesn’t show as much. —...andI don’t want any excuses. — What d’you call a Portagee who ... — He said he was counting that test three times. — But everybody else is smoking it! — Ziblonsky, seat number forty-five.
