No man can be true to himself unless he is true to the country that gives him the rights and privileges of a life of freedom and opportunity. This truth is a fundamental of real citizenship in our democratic form of govern: ment. It is one of the truths that our free school system endeavors to instil] into all the youth of the land. It is well illustrated here in our school by the large number of male members of the faculty and student body who have temporarily dropped the role of instructor and student to don the uniform of the nation’s armed forces, thus to join in the fight that is to protect and to save for future generations those rights and privileges that are so dear to all true Americans. The graduating class of January, 1943, honors them and itself in dedicating ita classbook to them.
