National Honor Society initiated outstanding 'I5 percent. Scholarship, Leadership. Character, and Service are the four qualities necessary for selection into the National Honor Society. The outstanding five per cent of the junior class and ten per cent of the senior class were admitted. Membership was de- termined by a committee of faculty members. At the induction ceremony, each entrance re- quirement was elucidated by a two-year member, then a candlelight initiation followed. A gold pin, a membership card and a certificate of initiation were presented to each initiate. New Albany High School has had a National Honor Society chapter since 19-146, but, nationally, the organization is 38 years oldg the Junior Honor Society was founded in 1921.
