fx! lili In '33 7 ft A . . .a school attended by l5l 5 boys and girls. . . staffed by a principal, 2 assistant principals, 2 deans, 50 teachers, 2 librarians, 2 secretaries, l nurse, l dietician, and 9 custodians. Our school offers its students over l4O different courses, taught in 44 classrooms . . . in the main building, the annex, and the vocational agriculture building. Our students take part in the activities of 35 clubs . . . they participate in football, basketball, track, and baseball . . . they play in the band and sing in the choir . . . they operate the school radio station . . . they cheer at ball games . . . provide an audience for dramatic productions , . . they take the freshman walk. . . stand in line in the cafeteria . . march across a platform in caps and gowns. Our school dates back to l853 when the first high school was established in New Albany . , . the second oldest high school in the state. Since that time our high school has had various locations. The present building was constructed in l927 . . . the annex was first used for high school classes in l94l . . . the south wing ofthe main building was added in l9-43 . . . and in l949 the vocational agriculture building was ready for use. Since the first high school was started in New Albany almost a hundred years ago, it has paced the city's industrial development. lt owes much to its civic leaders who through these years have helped to make our school one of the finest and one of the most modern high schools anywhere. 9
