Miss Naomi j. Kirk was sponsor of the cluh for 20 years. This year it consisted of 51 girls, sponsored by Mrs. Pa- tricia Diedrich. As the oldest girls' organization at NAHS, the Speakers were proud to maintain their chief pur- poses: to encourage puhlic speaking, sponsor school programs, conduct social affairs, and help the under- privileged. This year the Speakers initiated a 'Speakers' Sit- ter Service , sold candy after school, and sold very clever gray and red plastic-coated hook covers. They also had other activities such as assisting with the Thanksgiving program by showing scenes of an old fashioned Thanksgiving dinner through a large gilt picture frame at the Thanksgiving program. They presented, as usual, the Christmas play, A Red Rose for Christmas, and also, as has heen the custom for the past twenty six years, Santa Claus was
