Purposes of the club are to develop the creative writing ability of those students interested in collect- ing matcrial and preparing it for publication in The Blotter and to give members of the club an insight into the journalistic profession. Since members of the club worked under the di- rection of The Blotter staffs, no officers were elected. 22 29 az During club meetings members of the club discussed and studied the various types and styles of stories found in the school newspaper. The major project sponsored by the club was the sale of official programs for all home football and basketball games. Proceeds from program sales are used to send NAHS journalists to state and national journalism conferences. Program salesmen for the year were Martha Riley, Geraldine Collins, Patricia jackson, Robert Tenney, and Kenneth Waits. Mr. Robert B. johnson is sponsor of the club.

Wfriting form was also taught to the members of the club by Miss Kirk. Also, during club periods the students tried their skill at all types of writing, al- ternated with talks and discussions of famous writers and their different styles of writing. One of the club's activities was selling candy after school. ln this way, they finance.l their club projects. The XVriters Club offers not only the opportunity for enjoyment but also the means by which students can develop a life-long hobby. Also, through this club, students can be taught to appreciate good writ- ing even though they, themselves, may never become great writers. Requirements of the club are few. A student must be either a senior or a junior and must have a serious desire to learn more about writing. Officers elected for the year were Shirley Shine, president, Barbara Reisert, vice-president, and Vir- ginia Nale, secretary-treasurer. ROW' UNIQ: llltricia Neely. ,loyce l..imk:. -loan Ticineyer.
