Art is an elective and is open to any student. The value of art is experimen- tation, coordination, and originality. Various types of drawings, paintings, etc., become student projects through- out the year. For students who intend to pursue engineering and architecture and oth- er scientific fields, mechanical drawing is offered. Neville High School offers four years of English, three of which are required. Class procedures vary according to the needs of the students, but in general, the year's work centers around the language arts, reading, writing, speak- ing, and listening. At Neville partic- ular emphasis is placed on writing. However, the goal of the department is to send students out from a high school career, able to think construct- ively, speak those thoughts in a force- tul and coherent manner, and if the need arises, write about them.
