Valedictorian Jane Agnes Haas, the valedictorian of the Class of 1969, is an outstanding individual, as well as an out- standing student. Although she has gained the top position in her class by many long hours of hard work, Jane has also found time to be one of the most active students at NCHS. Beside scholarship, this versatile young lady has ex- celled in athletics, band, and has held numerous offices in FHA, French Club, National Honor Society, and N-ettes, besides holding the office of Student Council se c re tary - tre as ur e r. Jane has been popular among her fellow classmates. They selected her to represent them as a freshman cheerleader, junior yearbook attendant, and as a class officer her first three years of high school. In recognition of her four years of outstanding achievement, Jane received the Ness County Teachers' Association Scholarship and the I Dare You Award. This was a high honor for a deserving senior. STACY CRANSTON Bethany College Grant Bausch G Lomb Award LUANN DeWALD PTA Scholarship Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship DEAN DIETZ National Honor Thespian DANNY GABEL Departmental Award for Outstanding work in mechanical drawing and industrial arts. Seniors Salutatorian Ricky Dean Stenzel, the Salutatorian of the Class of 1969, is one of those individuals who possesses the rare qualities of both leadership and scholarship. Ricky worked hard for the second position in his class, and, like Jane, he has been a very active student. Ricky's interests span a broad field ranging from mathe- matics to basketball. Besides being a member of the basketball, football, and tennis teams, he has partici- pated in band, National Honor Society, Science and Math Club, and French Club. In his senior year, he was given one of the highest honors possible for a student at NCHS to receive when he was elected to the office of President of the Student Council. In his junior year, Ricky represented Ness City at Boys' State. During his high school career, he also participated in the WKEA and State Scholarship Contest each year. 19
