Besides the many regular duties of die staff, Ness hosted both the District Tournament and many other athletic events which required a lot of prepara- tion from the staff. The many speech and music events held out of town always called for late hours for our bus drivers. Through the help of the maintenance staff, all extra-curricular activities were held on schedule, there by making the ‘68-'69 school term a great year. Although she has gained the top position in her class by many long hours of hard work, Jane has also found time to be one of the most active students at NCHS. Beside scholarship, this versatile young lady has ex- celled in athletics, band, and has held numerous offices in FHA, French Club, National Honor Society, and N-ettes, besides holding the office of Student Council se c re tary - tre as ur e r. Jane has been popular among her fellow classmates. They selected her to represent them as a freshman cheerleader, junior yearbook attendant, and as a class officer her first three years of high school. In recognition of her four years of outstanding achievement, Jane received the Ness County Teachers' Association Scholarship and the I Dare You Award. This was a high honor for a deserving senior. Ricky worked hard for the second position in his class, and, like Jane, he has been a very active student. Ricky's interests span a broad field ranging from mathe- matics to basketball. Besides being a member of the basketball, football, and tennis teams, he has partici- pated in band, National Honor Society, Science and Math Club, and French Club. In his senior year, he was given one of the highest honors possible for a student at NCHS to receive when he was elected to the office of President of the Student Council. In his junior year, Ricky represented Ness City at Boys' State. During his high school career, he also participated in the WKEA and State Scholarship Contest each year. 19 FRED GOFF Rotary Scholarship GLENN A SCHLEGEL Crisco Award JOYCE MOEDER Outstanding Teenager of America KENNETH MUNSCH Thespian of the Year National Honorary Thespian Senior Officers: Mrs. McLeish adv., Linda Schneider hist., Joyce Moeder treas., Wiila Janssen stuco rep. , Mr. Sinclair adv., Janice Stoecklein sec., Bill Braun vice-pres., Dean Stecklein pres. Eagles Win Championship Again We were very pleased to have had such a wonderful group of boys to represent our school. Their desire and determination to excel in the game of football was something we shall never forget. Not once did they fail to act as a team. Through team effort, they were able to accomplish what they set as their goal at the start of the season--to win the WKEA Championship for the second time. In the years to come our school may post a better won-lost record, but I don't believe the 1968 NCHS foot- ball team will ever be forgotten due to their tremendous team effort displayed on the gridiron.
