As a name for the book, they chose the TRIDENT. This name comes from a Roman myth in which the god of the sea, Neptune, was always shown with a symbol called a trident in his hand The class ran into dlfficulties and were unable to complete the annu- l It was the Class of l93h that really pub lished the flrst TRIDENT It has been the ambi tion of each class s1nce that time to publish the annual The Class of' 1938 were prevented from fulfilling their ambltion The Class of '39, how ever, did get to publish an annual The TRIDENT was published by the Class of MO, but in 19 l the war made it lmpossible to get the necessary ma terials, so the annual was not publlshed again un til ln 19 6 The Classes of ' 7 and ' 8 kept p the good work and we, the Class of ' 9, are trying to live up to the standard set by our forerunners We would llke to thank all that have helped us, elther directly or indlrectly We hope that everyone that reads it w1l1 engoy the collection of thoughts and memories that we but into print, but we fe l that it will be the seniors that will get thelmost engoyment from it, for it wlll be a part of our school Joys that we can take with us, .FTMHAAQRSUDOQ khan--J' vyw-y'f-1'-,rj-rvrvw r ll Q xl n 8. . -' . . . - 2 D ' . - .
