CLASS PIQQPHECY Upon nearing the completion of our twelve years in the classrooms of Neptune High, I was asked to write the class prophecy. Since my crystal ball has not arrived, I shall have to read the tea leaves to get this knowledge. Remember, the tea leaves don't lie. Dim the lights, and give me your attention for a few minutes. The leaves are telling me something. Wait! Let the words fall in place. What's this! There seems to be something about a tea cup. Is it? Yes, it is Doris serving tea to---let us see---to a cus- tomer at Doris's Hamburger Heaven. Who is the cus- tomer? It looks like---yes, it's her husband mid their three children. Her h1sband's name is covered by a strange looking tea leaf. This leaf wasn't in the cup before. It is trying to tell me something. Oh! A new process for dyeing hair has been dis- covered by Esther Harner. She has been a practicing beautician for the past twenty years and has dis- covered a process in which you use these strange tea leaves to bleach and dye hair. She has a customer now. Why, It's Dave Roether! He's having his hair bleached. Won't he look strange with blonde hair and a five o'clock shadow? What?? He married a girl from Rockford! Wonder what she'll say about this bleaching job??? The leaves are forming a circle. That must mean that there is a race track at Neptune. Oh, yes! It's a hot-rod race track and its owner is Bud Roether, a millionaire, who became rich after getting a job in Washington, D. C., during the Senior trip in 1951. He came home to settle down in quiet old Neptune. He has two of the world's best hot-rod drivers under contract. Jim Cunningham and Jim Hayes are competing for the title of The World's Champion Hot-Rod Driver. The leaves are spreading out into straight rows with one large leaf at the head. That must signify a school room and Cora Vantilburg is the teacher. There seem to be a few familiar faces. Yes! It's Mr. and Mrs. Schlatter's children. My! Three faces

that look alike! Of course, they're triplets. Their daddy seems to be principal at Neptune where the children are taught by Cora Vantilburg. The leaves seem to change again. They are standing on end. Now I remember Russell Poor always liked to write things. He must have become an author. The title of his book is The Tea Grows In Neptune. Wait! It looks as if Miss Yewey, Miss Bair, and Dr. Rahmann have retired from teaching and now own and manage a tune. That must be tea company right here in Nep- where Russell got his idsa for the best-selling novel of the year. Now the leaves turn rather black. home which they Ray Flore liked his well that he became seem to bow their heads and Maybe---yes, it is a funeral telling me about. It seems that part in the senior class play so a mortician after graduation. HPS What's this---Guy Schmidt seems to have become a scientist. He has discovered a principle for embalming bodies. He stuffs them with---of all things---tea leaves! It seems he has discovered a good many new uses for tea leaves. The leaves are getting darker. Slowly they dissolve and I can read no more of the future. I'm glad my crystal ball didn't come. The tea leaves seemed to be mixed up in the future of a lot of people. Oh, well, I might try reading them again sometime. Delores Rhyme TAKE TIME Take time to live: It is one secret of success. Take time to think: It is the source of power. Take time to play: It is the secret of youth. Take time to read: It is the foundation of knowledge. Take time for friendship: It is the source of happiness. Take time to laugh: It helps to lift life's load Take time to dream: It hitches the soul to the stars. Take time for God: It is life's only lasting investment. nIf'you want to respect people think of you.N bo miserable, think much about your- you like, what and what people ---Charles Kingsley self: about what you want, what ought to pay you,
