This year’s Zephyr theme relates to Coca-Cola. The students and faculty at NHS have different personalities and preferences; but incorporate us and it all boils down to one main body working and growing together. So whether you were one who preferred the “classic” or one who preferred the “new” NHS, we were in it together. The classical side of school life was devoted to the way things have been at Neponset for many years. Many families and traditions are rooted deeply in the history of our school ana we strove to protect it. Yet, as the students arrived at school this fall there was a feeling of change, a breath of newness in the air. There was a change in the construction of the school; new doorways and walls had been put up in some places. NHS also had a new freshman class, a new principal full of vigor and new ideas, and there seemed to be a growing sense of school spirit. This spark of school spirit became evident during homecoming week when the bonfire was energetically brought back with great success. Just seeing the field lights on for the first time in many school years and hearing the Zephyr cries penetrate the air while the fire crackled and popped brought back a tinge of desire to keep our small school alive. This year was full of lasting memories, hard work, lots of laughs, a few tears, and that old NHS fizz! The choice was yours, classic or new, and you made it. This yearbook is for you, the students of Neponset High School, because—NHS is it! Paula works to transform the gym into a tropical paradise for the FHA dance. Chin up Julie! Things can't be that bad. “Let's go Zephyrs!” That’s what the Varsity cheerleaders say, all year long. 2
