Thinking of all the memorable times we've had at Neponset High School, the 1967 Annual Staff hopes that you will enjoy the Twentieth Volume of the Zephyr. In view of this fact, we the Staff of ’67, would like to dedicate this book to the Class of 1947-1948, who compiled the first annual in the history of Neponset High School. Editor of the 1948 Zephyr was Mollie Stetson, who was guided by Mr. Vernon V. Luther. The staff consisted of members of the Senior Class. Pictures of the '48 Zephyr were taken by the Paul Studio of Rock Island, printing was done by the Star-Courier of Kewanee, and the book was bound by the Pfister Binding Company of Galesburg. One hundred copies of the '48 Zephyr cost $550. 00, compared to 105 copies of the '67 Zephyr at $1, 000. Without the hard work of the Class of 1948, the Zephyr, that is in your hands now, would not be here! 2 DMINISTRATION PRINCIPAL Mr. Henry Sale This is the first year at NHS for Mr. Sale. Hi Snookie. 55 Class Poem This is the poem of our class; It will tell some of our past. Poets we have very few, But it's the best that we can do. Virginia Stone's a bonny lass; She's very good at stalling shorthand class! What's that diamond on her left hand mean? Is it a Navy budget so lean? Next in line’s our own Mary Pick. Those Kewanee girls sure make her run quick! For nursing at Freeport she's enrolled; She'll make a salary close to pure gold. What would we do without our ''Squirrel ? Everywhere she’s been's still in a whirl. She thinks she has troubles with her beaus, But she's not bad off, as far as that goes. Joanne is small and full of pep, And with the boys she's really hep. In P.E. she does a good flip, And on the pyramid she's always the tip. Janice can study Shakespeare with ease, And drawing for her is such a breeze. She has lived from there to here. We like her best when she's near. To Midstate College she is bound, And in the cemetary she was once found. This is our one and only Sher, And where Rog is, she's sure to be there. Judy's been our Bureau County Queen; The telephone was once her bad dream. She's headed for Illinois State; Down there high she will rate. Celia's also Normal bound; At her no teacher's ever frowned. She brought the senior class through with ease; And on the annual she's the big cheese! Sally's best feature is her blonde hair, And when there's fun she’s always there. At Midstate College she will be found; Watch out, Peoria, she'll tear you down! Newspaper editor she rated this year; Who could that be except Carol Van Meir? Her long brown hair is always neat; In shorthand class she simply can't be beat! With Dick she spends every possible minute; This girl's name is Mary Bennett; For the Zephyrs loud did she cheer; Many a wild tale from her we could hear. Nancy Jackson is our silent girl; Over the Raiders” she is all a whirl. Jethrene she was nicknamed all through school, But she didn't mind it as a rule. Diane has long auburn hair; Everything she does is done with care. About a certain Airman she is often teased, But she takes it all with ease. Mike Berry is this boy's name. As student council president he won his fame. A future scientist he will be; He does his best in chemistry. At dribbling Don has lots of speed; Even enough to tire out Reed! Soon he'll be on his way to Western; Those poor teachers he'll be a pesterin'! A well known boy is Gary Moore; With K town girls he will always score. Football is his favorite sport; He was the king of our Homecoming court. Because for the honor he did ask, He was the sponsor of our class. Larry Freeman is his name; In the sports world lies his fame. These were the seniors one by one; The last four years were lots of fun. We'll soon be alumni of N. H. S. --To the future classes we wish the best. Written by Sally Stabler, Mike Berry, Sherry Stabler, Gary Moore, and Diane Dickerson.
